Guided Walks

There are a variety of guided walks in the centre of London - can anyone recommend any interesting ones I can take a 16 year old who is interested in History, on?While we are about it, what about local ones, are they any good?

Sarah, the local walks done by the Heritage Guides are excellent, it is surprising what has gone on under our noses!

I bought a book a couple of years ago called Walking London by Andrew Duncan,which features around 30 walks in around London im sure there are a few that would be suitable in there,also try this website http://www.walks.com/

www.chr.org.uk/walks.htmAnn: Thats an interesting website..thanks.There seems such a huge choice of places to go..that we are spoilt for choice.  According to THE TIMES recentlythe population of London was only 1 million.....in 1810 so it has really expanded.I've heard that the Brentford Heritage walks are excellent.Father Thames must be the oldest feature in Brentford!followed by.......?? Syon House? some of those Georgian buildings dotted around?......finally ending with the lastest gem...the recently built and ugly Travel Lodge building next to the old Piano Museum and St George's Church!

The Jack the Ripper walk and the Sherlock Holmes walk are very interesting.Details are usually in Time Out about when and where etc.

Sarah,www.chr.org.uk/walks.htm - 18k - This looks good, but I've not tried it personally.  It is years since I did one of those walks, and visited places like "Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese" and Dr. Johnson's House, amongst other famous sites.Good luck.
