Duke of York aka New England

Per headline item on this site, the demolition started this week and as of a few hours ago, there's about a quarter of the building still standing. FYI

Once upon a time... just boarded up with a Banksy adornment on the Brook Lane North sidewall.  Now pretty well demolished. (Image from the CAMRA website).

No. As far as I am aware, it was painted over!! Despite the council and the developers being made aware that it was there and exactly where it was, the wall has been demolished. In this age of technology surely the paint covering it could have been removed. But apparently not, it was too much trouble

I did take a picture of the Banksy there and uploaded the snap onto the BBC London website to add to their collection.

There was once a Banksy on the side of this old pub. Did it get washed off?

Residents are usually made aware of the restriction preventing them applying for permits upon purchasing/moving in to a development.  Obviously it is impossible to prevent residents applying, but I've always presumed those in charge of issuing permits have a list of every development where occupiers cannot be given permits.  Of course, the operational hours of most CPZ's don't cover early mornings or evenings/overnight however.

I live in York Road. We have been waiting for many years for something to be done with this site. The previous owner has let the site get run down and it is/was in a disgusting state. The site has been bought by Shepherd Bush Housing and whilst I am not too thrilled at the prospect of having 26ish flast being built,some with balconies which will overlook our gardens, at least anything is an improvement.What I am concerned about is where all these new tenants are going to park. I have been assured that they will not be able to apply for Residents Parking Permits but wonder how this is going to be enforced. The parking problem in York Road is getting worse. If you arrive home late at night it is virtually impossible to park and as for football days, forget it.

Not for the first time though the front page article wrongly implies that the current application seeks permission to redevelop a site, whereas in fact approval to redevelop this site has already been granted and the current application merely relates to a requirement to submit additional information to discharge one of the conditions imposed upon the original permission.The same error was made on a front page article recently on CW4 and such mistakes do rather annoy me, is it that hard to get basic facts right ?.
