House boat Brentford open day. Interesting article

"Also I read the following"Residential moorings have disposal points for "black water" or human waste so it joins the sewage system." which is really good.Are the boats at the Watermans park using this disposal points?Many thanks in advance for the clarifications

When one remembers what was at Watermans Park, A Huge Coaling stage, the sheer amount of toxins spilling into the river was extraordinary.What may or may not be ejected into the river at Watermans currently in a year would not match what was going into the river in 10 minutes then.No mention of the many sewerage overflow outlets which will still be delivering into the river for at least another 20 years and with the population figures about to show another huge surge in London, may have to be retained as the Super sewer may be beyond capacity before it is ever completed.House boats of a bespoke design using modern technology ( There are a few examples moored in Battersea) can provide homes of superb quality and affordability.  Even a floating school is easily feasible and would solve housing and infrastructure shortages created by such poor planning.The last thing needed is a marina for the wealthy, which is hugely impracticable for the tideway of the river and is potentially a disaster waiting to happen.An opportunity for social advance missed purely to pander to the whims of developers again.

Do the boat people from Waterman's Park, those who use this method, really hump their chemical toilets to a chemical toilet emptying point? Where is that exactly? It would be good to hear from one of the boat people.

Chemical toilets emptied ... somewhere where there's a chemical toilet emptying point. Some marinas have them, don't know locally.

Not necessarily expecting a reply from Guy but maybe one of the Waterman's Park boat people or somebody in the know can explain - what 'other acceptable methods of disposal' of black water are there?

Thank you Guy for the clarificationsI thought it was like that just to be sure (I found that sentence in the article at little bit misleading) I walk often around the Canals and these people keep their boat in a good state. I will try to come.What time does it start?

Domenico - no, these are two different groups of boaters tucked away on the River Brent/canal down near the Brewery Tap. One of several charming and secluded waterside communities in the heart of Brentford which are officially recognised, pay council tax, have licences from the Canals and Rivers Trust, etc.I don't believe the boats at Waterman's Park have direct access to sewage disposal points though there are other acceptable methods of disposal which certainly some of the Waterman's boaters say they use.These boats and Johnson's Island are very well worth a visit, especially if you haven't been before and I hope they get a really good attendance on their open day.
