Garden Waste Collection - Yellow Tags

I wonder if anyone else has shared my problem with the new arrangements. I have not received yellow tags for my garden waste bags.Being a miserly sort of person I signed up early to take advantage of the discounted price and I opted to stick with the green bags rather than the brown bin which is about the size of a Smart car. I received two spanking new green bags despite the fact that the old ones were perfectly adequate.My garden waste was collected on 5th April, the first day of the new scheme, perhaps because the operatives were armed with a printed list of those that had paid but last week it was left uncollected with no stickers to indicate why. Neighbours tell me that I should have received plastic tags to attach to the handles of the bags. I have not received my tags. My garden compost bin is full to the brim and I really don't want to make a planet-destroying car trip to the recycling centre.Several emails and 'phone calls to LB Hounslow remain unanswered. I value the service and I understand the reasons for charging but I find it very alarming that the quality of communication from LBH is so abysmal. I must add that Guy Lambert is a notable exception.

My lovely shiny yellow tags finally arrived through my letterbox on Tuesday, the same day that my garden waste was collected. Having managed to find a permanent marker I have proudly written my address on the tags.Each tag is stamped with a unique serial number and a neighbour has suggested that it would be a good idea to keep a note of those serial numbers. Perhaps life is too short?I don't know if there is national shortage of yellow tags or if LB Hounslow are simply in a state of confusion. I would perhaps know the answer if any one of my emails to them had been answered. I was assured that a reply would be with me within 10 working days but it's now at least 20 days and I still eagerly await a reply.

I too signed up for the garden waste collection on 23rd April and I am still waiting for the yellow tags, however my garden waste was collected this week!

The garden collection did not go off in the normal way with the food recycling which was a worry for a short while but it was picked up later.We put out one garden sack and it was returned with a bright yellow tag and the second tag was through the letter box.

I haven't received tags or new (unrequested) bags yet (possibly a late-ish acceptance of the discount offer) - but the old bags have been emptied twice on the timetabled days under the new regime so far.

Put your road and house number on them!  If they then accidentally end up at the wrong house up or down the road people will be more inclined to return them as it will be easy - and you can also be confident they are yours if you spot them in the wrong place.

Apparently the secret which may allow you to reclaim the bags or wheelie bins is to mark them on the bottom too... ;)

Thanks for your reply Sarah. I hadn't thought about the added advantage of the bags in allowing insects to escape.It seems that some of those at LBH do read comments posted on the TW8 forum. This afternoon I had a call from a Mr. Smith from LBH's customer/public relations department who had read my post. He was most helpful, courteous and cheerful.Your are absolutely right. The gold/yellow braid or piping on the bag handles indicates that you have paid your dues and there is therefore no need for yellow tags. My case appears to have been a simple case of a "missed collection".I'm not sure what happens if a villain who has not paid decides to pinch your braided bags or what happens if they get lost. Nor do I know what will happen next April by when another payment will have been due. Perhaps a new set of bags with a nice silver or pink braid will be issued?

We opted for the green bags to allow insects the chance to escape once they have been collected up, last week there were lots of lady birds flying out of the bags.The 2 bags which we were given have tiny yellow stitching on one side of the handles.  Blink and you might not notice the stitching.
