Thank you Jamie and others for your messages..No problems..it was a late arrangement...but I was able to make my first ever visit to The Weir. and what a delight it was too!The FARMERS MARKET provides one with a good monthly reason to get to know Brentford better..and to visit some local places afterwards. It adds to ones life of local magic moments! Well hopefully anyway. After the Market, I moved my vehicle to THE BUTTS for safe parking (£1 for 75 mins). The open spacious area looked heavenly in the sunshine, great architecture and ambience, few cars, signs of some houses being tastefully renovated. Looked like an area to be proud of.THE BUTTS..what a joy to see. What a spendid area to walk through. What a town of contrasts!THE WEIR was just splendid. Wandering through the comfortable bar area, staffed by zippy uniformed professionals (from overseas?), I entered the rear garden overlooking the Canal and Weir. There were some 30 people scattered around the large number of wooden tables. eating, drinking and chatting. Can't believe that I hadn't been there before...but that was the purpose of my mission!Yes, will definitely go there again.David from the Forum Meet-up, and River Thames clean up fame joined the table..and we had a good friendly chat..as always. There something special about meeting up via the Forum.Afterwards, I called in at the Brentford Library...you can borrow four books at a time these days...in that fine Carnegie building by the War Memorial..in Boston Manor Road. I returned home quite content from my trip to Brentford..and look forward to the next occasion.
