Decision will be made on 31 May 2016 .Re: corner commercial premises on Whitestile Road. Formerly shops and now Dental workshop. A lot of interest has been shown by buyers keen to continue with the property being used as a shop. It was used  as a shop for over 50 years but the dental workshop re-located from the shop premises a couple of doors down to his existing corner position some 12 + years ago. Meanwhile the vacated premises were turned into another flat.  We have now lost all but 2 of our little parade of shops.  Now he wants to turn the dental workshop into yet another flat, If he succeeds then we will lose forever our little corner shop.  This property has wide appeal and potential to continue its use as a commercial enterprise and once it's turned into yet another flat we will have lost it and won't ever get it back!   Such a shame!  Property detailsCase Reference   P/2016/0931 Planning Reference  01201/114/P5 Location:  114 Whitestile Road Brentford TW8 9NW Proposal detailsChange from Commercial use to residential maisonette.Applicant detailsMartin Bulley  Council Contact: Gemma Bassett Planning officer  Tel: 0208 583 4967(It isn't as if Mr Bulley needs to live there himself no (Mr Bulley also owns the property directly behind this which he rents out  in (Junction Road) and he lives in a lovely huge detached house in Chorley Wood) he just plans to let it out. That whole parade of shops has been turned into slum flats/bedsits over the last 10-15 years. Martin managed to stop the landlord getting his hands on the corner property so well done mate!!The remaining premises are disgusting, over-developed and sub-standard (as can be seen looking at the appalling frontages where in places plasterboard has been used externally).Shame on the landlord and the council for allowing this rubbish to happen.It's about time Brentford and Chiswick were separated from the Hounslow mob so they can keep up their standards.

Thank you for your response Adam. You aren't harsh at all, just realistic. I really do appreciate your input as you are being professional whereas I am just being sentimental in this case.  The dental work shop is a 'one man band'  whereas I feel that a shop would provide an excellent  employment opportunity for local people and ensure that 'community feeling'.  It's true I don't really have any grounds for objecting other than those I stated, so I guess we get another flat :(

Sorry to be harsh but in planning terms the shop was lost years ago when it became the dental workshop, so any objection on such grounds simply isn't relevant.  The relevant issue is the loss of the dental workshop, which seems to be more of an industrial type use (B use class than an communal facility (D1 use class), and assuming the dental workshop is an industrial type use whether it usefully contributes to local employment or economic activity in the Borough.So if you are going to object forget about the long lost shop, forget about the fact the applicant doesn't need to live there himself, and concentrate on the issue of the loss of the industrial use together with any shortcomings in terms of the quality of the accommodation being provided.
