Supporting Great Causes

If you have any unwanted clothes please take them to TK Max, they are collecting them for Cancer research.Do you have any empty unwanted drink can's (beer, cola, orangeade etc etc) i have a resident on the estate collecting them in aid of Cancer research and Help the heroes.Do you have any unwanted Bikes, Books or Balls?  Please donate them to Porridge and Rice (porridgeandrice.co.uk) who ships them to Nairobi to the slums to donate to the poorest children in Africa.

I had a look at this charity's website and it is very interesting. It always amazes me how much stuff our kids in this country have and still think they are hard done by.  I expect the youngsters who are involved here find this very rewarding. Bravo.  It is a shame that our education system now has exams every year instead of that first year of A levels where many took part in visiting the elderly etc.

One of these websites had an offer of a free humidifier on it very recently.  That for instance might have been useful for that young family on the How to get a Council House programme

Probably because someone sees it as competition.  It is easier to use than freecycle and freegle as a great way to pass on for reuse belongings which can still be of use to someone else that you no longer want. Nobody seems to do that on this website.  They do more on the Chiswickw4.com website.  I once tried repeatedly to put a reference on one of the neighbournet websites and eventually just gave up and have never found the for sale area easy to navigate on the few occasions I've bothered to try - which is a shame - as it would be another really good method of finding things you want and getting rid of things you don't which can lead to you storing things you don't want or taking them to the Reuse & Recycling Centre which is basically an end of their life as they are trip.  Reuse is much further up the waste hierarchy than Recycling.

So what happened to the reply that must have been here?Perhaps it wasn't a helpful one.  Many things can be re-purposed, reused and recycled rather than just being binned or dumped in general waste. One man's trash is another man's treasure!Here are two websites that will help reduce the amount that goes in your bins:www.therubbishdiet.org.uk    www.myzerowaste.com  (And those fundraising tables and jumbletrails etc are also a good idea.)
