Keith Agreed, Pope John Paul not only helped inspire the people of Poland to throw off the shackles of communism throughout the peaceful revolt but also guided many Poles spiritually for more than a quarter of a century. As the former leader of Solidarity and Polish ex-President, Lech Walesa put it "Without him there would be no end of communism, or at least much later, and the end would have been bloody."
