Old Brentford Church.

I cannot believe that Hounslow Council has got planning permission to convert the old Church at the end of the High Street, just before the Six Bells Pub. Is nothing sacred anymore? It seems that every empty office block from Hounslow through to Chiswick is being converted to flats/apartments and anywhere there is a space, they are building apartments/flats etc. It is a disgrace that these are not for local people but the immigrants that are flooding into the Borough.

in all this discussion there is no mention of what is to become of the buriel grounds attatched to the church. three of my granddads siblings & two cousins are buried there .Yes it is over 100 years now since they where buried there but their little bones still remain there all laying side by side

It was quite beautiful before the Original Windows were mysteriously replaced with the Monstrosities that make it "Ugly" It was our Church my Nan & Mum were married there:-))

The tower is ok but the rest of the building has to be the ugliest in Brentford. I would not join any gym in that building, Demolition would be preferable.

If it were to be used for refugees, I for one would be in favour. However, every such development is there to make money for the few, not to serve people's needs.I'm also surprised the mod(s?) of this forum allow blatant racism. And don't tell me 'it's not racism, it's the truth'...

Apologies for incorrect date!!St Lawrences is the name of the church and the Great West Tower(Bell Tower) was built in the 15th Century during the Wars of the Roses it is the earliest structure in Brentford  even today remains unaltered!Developers please take note!!!

However let's not forget the Bell Tower goes back to the 7th Century,we wouldn't like over zealous developers forgetting that it is a LISTED BUILDING!!! Repair by all means,otherwise leave it be!!!

The current work is to repair the exterior which after years of neglect in need of repair. It's about time something happened to the building, even converting the main body into flats is better than having fall down.

I understand a request for LBH to reveal how many empty and sub let apartments there are in Brentford has been refused on commercial grounds.Can that be how much council tax is being raked in without the need to provide services which is covering for the huge demand and overcrowding in social housing?

I presume the current work to the exterior is essential maintenance. I understand at least the tower is listed, its the oldest remaining building in Brentford. The Ballymore planning approval is for use as commercial (gym or some such) Not residential.......

That old church, which is St Lawrences, has been empty/derelict for as long as I can remember.  At one point there was a campaign to turn it into a theatre/arts venue.  It's about time something useful was done with it.

I know, it's shocking isn't it, I mean us natives don't reproduce at all and it if it wasn't for those bloody foreigners we wouldn't need more homes.Don't think I need to say I'm being sarcastic...
