£50 for a garden waste service that isn't a service!!!

I paid for the new garden waste service and put out my brown bin last week last Tuesday evening ready for collection on the Wednesday (18th May). It was not collected so I rang up to report the missed collection on the Wednesday. Nothing happened so I rang up and spoke to someone who made an "urgent" report. I have e-mailed two missed collection reports and rung again. In all FIVE attempts to get my garden waste recycled. I now feel very silly at having wasted £50 on a service that does not seem to work. Perhaps I should have saved my money, disguised the garden waste in black bins bags, and stuck it in the waste wheelie bin. (which is apprently what alot of people are doing - so it will end up in landfill).

The biggest problem it seems is that when the collection goes wrong there is no real will to come back and clear it.  You get no response to calls or emails or if you get a standard rely they say the will collect it the next working day, and don't.  Kew tip was closed the other weekend so I had to go to Spaceway.  An elderly lady was saying how she had paid for her two green bags from LBH and had not had her collection and had been unable to get a response from the recycling people.  There she was, at the tip with obvious paid for green bags and there was no offer of help to lift them up the steps and up to chest height into the skip.  Kew is better as you don't have to climb the steps beside the skips and the offer of a hand is genuine and quick.  Smashing people running the Townmead tip.
