Kew Bridge Road lane closure/hole

Does anyone have a clue how much longer the lane closure on Kew Bridge Road close to the Kew Bridge junction is going to remain ? - the one remain deep hole has been there for weeks and although I have occasionally seen workmen there in the evenings (albeit not doing much) there doesn't seem to be much going on lately and the queues are stretching back to the Ealing Road junction every rush hour.Fortunately for me I no longer commute by car, but I'm surprised no-one else has raised this.

Fortunately yes, although there's still an assortment of plastic barriers etc. stacked on the pavement, presumably either forgotten or awaiting collection.

have just gone past the lane closure at Kew Bridge and after more that 2 months, the roadworks are nearly gone.  Site cleared, the contractors are just painting the yellow lines and tidying up.  I should imagine once paint and tarmac dry, the lane will be re-opened.  Perhaps today?  I would think so.

I went past last night and the main holes had been filled in and tarmacked over, so hopefully it won't be long now.

Agreed Guy, 'emergency activity' by definition suggests a band of people frantically running around to complete the job ASAP, which certainly isn't an accurate description of what has been taking place on the ground - your description of the works being akin to a hobby undertaken in spare time is spot on.

We are now being told it will be finished on the 29th, but thus far it's been a moveable feast.This, as I understand it, is an 'emergency' activity initiated by National Grid where the council/Hounslow Highways have little or no control.I am seeking answers through Highways regarding what the full story has been here: as far as I'm concerned, if there was constant intense activity I wouldn't mind so much but it has looked more like somebody's hobby that they get round to in their spare time.

To my surprise there was actually work going on yesterday (Sunday morning), although walking past last night there was a completely new hole nearer the traffic lights, as though something had gone wrong and the other end of the pipe had needed excavating again.

There appears to be a window between 11:30 and noon when one can drive through the roadworks relatively easily!  But at least today there was a workman in a digger in his underpants using his mobile.  That gave me confidence!

I live next door to The Jet petrol station and to say the least, the traffic is atrocious as it is!! the works that have made it even worse and there are traffics jams all hours of the day. I am so fed up with it as I work as a Carer and am up and down visiting clients I seem to spend more time sitting in traffic in Brentford, Isleworth and Chiswick as this work affects the surrounding areas!!

This really is beyond a joke.This is a major road and twice this week it has taken 40 mins to get from Brentford to Richmond and nearly 25mins to Kew Bridge Stn and on to Gunnersbury.  That's on the bus and the disruption to the 65 fans out the the entire route in both directions.I've been past this on 11 occasions this week on foot and so far have seen just 2 chaps pfaffing about with a plastic pipe once.What are TfL doing and LBH doing? Or is this quite deliberate to cause such congestion to justify some vehicular policy?Absolutely unacceptable.I do hope Guy it is not just you on your own making enquiries but also all your local councillor colleagues.

Agree it's a disgrace.Have been trying to get some sense out of Hounslow Highways and Argon Utilities, but without any success.

A group of tortoises would have finished the job quicker.I overslept this morning so didn't walk past until 08.30, no-one on site, no activity, nothing.  Walked past at 18.30 tonight, the sum total of today's achievements seemed to have been laying about 3 metres of tarmac over part of the trench and removing the cones from the stretch of the trench that was tarmaced over yesterday.Still more trench to fill in/tarmac and the huge hole.  No sign of anyone actually working at half 6 tonight, but the van was parked there with the side door open - was tempted to wait until someone turned up and have a rant but it's not like the workforce give a damn so why should I put myself in a confrontational position ?.The relevant authorities should clamp down on this type of though, it really is taking the p*ss to have such works over-running and no-one exerting any pressure to get the workforce to do a full day to get the work done sooner.

Thanks Paul, that being the trench that they started digging on Thursday evening following a couple of days when seemingly (I do stress the word seemingly as I only walk past the site twice a day) nothing whatsoever happened on the site.Quite why every set of roadworks in the locality always over-runs is beyond me.

Not so fast...  I emailed them today and they responded within a few minutes:Sorry for the inconvenience caused. We have had a few issues with the trench, as it was redeemed unsafe to work in to make the connection on Sunday. We are hoping to be complete and out of the road within 7 to 10 days.

It has been a nightmare driving around with road closures and road works and three way traffic lights.  A police investigation was going on on St Margarets road yesterday but no signs until the Police tape came into view.  I have been avoiding Kew bridge road unless I had to go there and I can't say I have seen any workers on the lane closed bit.  The other bottle neck is the slip road beside Kew bridge station which has been stuffed recently with jams going up on to the M4, don't know why.

This is a disgrace. The original works were supposed to last for a week over half term. There have been days when no one has been working and it has gone on and on. I thought utilities had strict rules regarding penalties for over run projects.This has caused me a great deal of wasted time. I hope the company concerned are heavily fined.

I pass it every morning at about 6am when luckily it does not cause any delays but I would be amazed if the works were complete and the lane back in full use within 4-5 days especially as the weekend is upon us

I have been harassing the contractors via the LBH transport team. They tell me 19th July. At least somebody was working on it yesterday, I was beginning to think it was a static art installation.

I rang Argon Utility Solutions earlier and they assured me that the road works would be finished by Wednesday, 20th July.  I am not holding my breath though.  I rang them a few weeks ago and they assured me they would be finished by the 12th.

Thanks Kath, I'll believe it when I see it, at 7am this morning the huge hole remained and there was a half dug trench extending approximately 5 metres from the main hole, so they're going to have to crack on this morning...

Hounslow Highways tell me that the lane at the Kew Bridge junction outside Kew Bridge Station is expected to reopen Friday afternoon, when National Grid have completed their works.

When I just walked past there were 2 guys digging a trench, presumably for a pipe.  So after 2 days of apparent stagnation we now have both the same huge hole and a new long trench...hardly an encouraging sign.

no idea when it is going to end - but hope it's soon.  It really causes chaos during rush hour.  I have checked on the contractors' website and no info, also checked on this TW8.com pages under travel updates,  no info I can find either.
