St Paul's Church cancel booking for meeting on local government

I am now looking for an alternative venue for the Public Meeting on 'A Corbyn Vision of Local Government'. St Paul's have written to me to say there is 'a diary issue' and, on being asked if it was possible to book a later date, I'm told that they are undertaking a 'deep clean' from July to September.I do hope that this is not politically motivated as the meeting was meant to be inclusive and was a way of discussing how we can improve the council.

Hello Just seen your notice I am sure the decision was not politically motivated . However I do see this as a good opportunity for you to utilise a great space in Brentford. We are a Charity  SUFA and we have recently moved into Maxfactor House, Waterman's park and we have the sort of space that would we believe suit your needs for this meeting. If all else fails public houses are desperate for trade these days, and those who don't serve Sunday lunches will probably have plenty of space available.  If there is a small charge involved I'm sure it won't be too difficult to organise a whip-round amongst those present.  This all sounds very suspicious.  Knowing Curran and his crew I would expect them to try to apply pressure to have a meeting like this closed down, it would be an absolutely instinctive response.  Whether the church would yield to such pressure is of course another matter, I don't know enough about them or what relationship, if any, they have with Curran to be able to form a view.

I was under the impression that schools had to have a hall hiring policy to cover their costs when providing this service to the community.  Isleworth and Syon have a large hall and stage which the scouts use for their bazaar and St Francis church on the A4 hire their hall out for a variety of events but may have a nursery at the time you have asked for.  Worth ringing around.

If it's true as you seem to be suggesting that your booking is being blocked then that is unacceptable. Although I do not agree with Momentum - I do believe in a democracy where people are entitled to air their views. Most of the venues in the borough should be grateful for the money this would attract, is this more bullying from Cllr. Curran's merry band?

Fusion blocked use of Isleworth Public Hall and were asking for over £500 for Montagu Hall. I am sensing that the outsourcing of some leisure services has been a disaster for people locally who want to meet up.

Brentford Girls' for School have Facilities for hire although I haven't any idea re size of room(s)/possible restrictions and so on. There is an online form through which to contact the caretaker.

Isleworth Public Hall is a good shout or possibly the Bridgelink on the Ivybridge though as these are both Council properties as such they may also block your hire
