Parking Charges rising

Which begs the question does anyone EVER object or have a problem with these decisions? Seems little point in having so many councillors if one person can make rather big decisions all on their tod and no-one else even gets consulted, barmy! If you had people who actually cared they would - at least - consult the relevant ward members before taking any decision? Mind you these so-called 'cabinet' members seem to think they are endowed with special powers and know what's best, arrogance personified.

For the benefit of those who are unfamiliar with the term, the Single Member Decision is a process through which one councillor takes a unilateral policy decision and all of his/her party colleagues agree with it after it has been made.It was a concept developed under the Blair government so it is only natural that it should be enthusiastically pursued by Hounslow's Blairite administration.

Whatever happened to collective responsibility? This 'single member decision' way of doing things doesn't strike me as very democratic, but then that would fit with the Curran attitude to doing things.

But how do you get 30 mins free on Ringo.Good question. There are quite a few places in Ealing which provide free parking for 30 minutes or an hour and you are told to use RingGo if you want to stay longer. Presumably they rely on wardens to note numbers and check if people have overstayed without paying.All a bit hit-and-miss!

No mention of it but given that was a flagship achievement by the very same Labour administration based on doing something to rectify the damage parking charges had on local commerce. It will be a bit thick to abolish it.But how do you get 30 mins free on Ringo. Not to mention the premium charge costs by some mobile providers to Ringo.As usual. They have not grasped the damage they do to the community.
