Prince Charles and Camilla

Both looked very happy, and her outfit was lovely.I hope they have many years of contentment ahead of them; and that the nastiness and cruel comments about Camilla will soon cease.The messages on the gates of Kensington Palace were tasteless in the extreme.

i have some sympathy for him when he can't get away from the press.I also agree with him that the people who hound him and his family are 'bastards'of the parasitical kind.He's damned if he does and also if he doesn't on many things.

Jim,Yes, it is really paradoxical - even in my own family I find widely differing views on the Royal Family.I'm with you;  I like Prince Charles, and feel terribly sorry for him at times.  Today I am thinking perhaps now his life will take on new meaning.  I wish the two of them every happiness and a long future together.

Yes - I always felt for Diana whatever her shortcomings and I am sure they were many - the fact remains that if Charles hadn't been so bloody weak and feeble he'd have married Camilla when he could have done all those years ago. At last he seems to have found his backbone, what a pity so many people had to get so hurt in the process, the Royal Family would be well advised to get rid of the old time servers and general old farts that surround them.

As I said, Jim, Diana when 'she grew up' wasn't a saint......love is blind, as they say.  But she WAS so very vulnerable and so young when she married Charles.  I can still see her look of adoration on her face when she said 'of course, I'm in love'......and he cynically remarked 'whatever THAT means'!  I think I would have hit him had I been her.  Certainly it was a miracle that my own TV set remained intact! ;-)Now fait accompli let C & C get on with it and hope that the 'influence of a good woman(?)' will do wonders for him, and us!As a mother/grandmother myself, I still feel for the Princes and hope step-mother will bring some sense and sensibility to such a disfunctional family.....but heaven help them, they're ALL disfunctional!  To me, the Queen didn't look any too happy and had no eye contact with the couple throughout.

"Why do we have such differing opinions?"I think its simply because we're all different from each other JIM and I believe that's a good thing. Thank goodness that we all respect each other despite our differing opinions. Thats very civilised I think. ;-)

Isn't it strange that everybody has different and wide ranging opinions on the Charles/Camilla/Diane matter?On the basis that we have all read the leading newspaper articles, and all the in-depth opinions of the courtiers and others, and all the books, and seen all the TV programmes about them over the past 10 years..it could be said that have been given all the facts on the subject.How come that we have such differing views? Some people deride Charles..whilst others in the know admire him.Camilla gets a terrible Press ..yet those who know her give her much praise.  Diana was loved by the world in many ways, yet she apparently behaved unPrincess like behind the scenes..both when she was married and afterwards. She certainly was charismatic.Why do we have such differing opinions? Do some have more knowledge about the matter than others? Or are WE just all different in our judgements? PS: I'm a fan of Prince Charles...and admire all I see and hear about him. Hopefully peace will now prevail over the Royal Family.Lets look forward to a Charles and Camilla era in harmony?

'.....and her outfit was lovely'......Wot, no gloves?  An essential for a lady, surely, going walkabout?Didn't see notices on palace gate, so can't comment on them, but like you Ann, I wish them the best and hope they just get out of our lives.  Can't stand him......Old hat, I know, but how CAN any decent person marry someone obviously madly in love with him and just use her as an heir and spare machine?  I just can't forgive that, and felt oh, so sorry for William and Harry today.  They have behaved wonderfully throughout.  My only hope is that Camilla will improve Charles and make him a decent human being....get him away from his self pity!  Yes, I know he is supposed to be wonderful and active with youth and charities, but I can't get beyond his treatment of Diana.  I know she wasn't a saint, but she was young, innocent and vulnerable at the time she married him.

I am no particular fan of either of them, and I think Diana will haunt him to his grave, but it is time to move on, why should they be denied what the rest of us take for granted.
