Gatwick expansion - front page story

Excuse the cut and paste below from the front page story - just wondering where Hounslow Council stands on Heathrow expansion. Do we know? I think if Hounslow ran a local referendum you may end up with a unpopular result of yes to expansion.

Officially Hounslow's ruling Labour Group supports "better not bigger". Yet they have refused unlike other affected Boroughs to hold a local referendum on the issue. They say that this would be divisive. This is kind of the point of having a referendum - we need to know what residents really think. Many residents in the west of the Borough have been told that a decision for Gatwick would mean an immediate loss of jobs in the area. Heathrow insisted at a briefing meeting that I attended that "Heathrow must expand or die".These lies must be addressed by our Council and refuted.The Conservative Group is unequivocal in its support for the third runway to be built at Gatwick. We do not believe that Heathrow's future would be put at risk by such a decision either in the short or the long term.

Ealing Southall MP, Virendra Sharma, has tweeted today explaining why he now supports Heathrow expansion. No doubt his researcher, a certain Mr Julian Bell, who retweeted this u-turn, will make this official Ealing Council policy in due course.

With London City now given permission to expand we should be really well off for airports plus noise and pollution.

Rather Ironic that Ealing is not against and yet it's Council Leader collects a sizeable payment for being on the London Environmental and pollution advisory committee.It's OK to penalise road users but not polluting buildings or airports.Until these double standard hypocrites whose noses are always in the public troughs are swept away we will never see common sense prevail

Are we being asked to believe that Hounslow, uniquely, was not invited to add its name to this list?  Presumably not, and yet Hounslow's name isn't there.Go figure.  This is hardly a case for Hercule Poirot.
