Hounslow High Street

Anyone else think that Hounslow High Street has got even worse if that's possible recently?I walked down it yesterday morning about 9am and it really has become a complete stain on the Borough with small gangs hanging around cashpoints, Roma Big Issue sellers every 100 yards and winos swigging away in any shop doorway let alone the vomit and litter on the pavement

I don't suppose the powers that be give an Edmundo about it but I don't spend any of my hard earned there and I would wager quite a few others dislike the place enough to avoid it. Local shops for local people? Only if you fancy a sea of litter, unsavoury types hanging about cashpoints and a general air of despondency to go with your shopping.

I recall that conversation when pedestrianisation was first being mooted and some of us made the point that buses should be allowed to run right through the centre, to ensure there were always people about. Needless to say no-one listened. There was also talk about having living accommodation over the shops for the same reason.

I dislike going to Hounslow and avoid it like the plague. At night it's even worse as regards gangs of blokes hanging about. It's one of the joys of pedestrianisation of an area.

This morning Bell Road was disgusting, I have rarely seen so much litter all over the place, it goes from the junction with Hanworth Rd. right round to Steve Biko Way. There are plenty of litter bins so no excuses. A street cleaner was there - I think he'll sink under the weight of the cr*p he'll have to sweep up.
