Road closure 22/08/16

Hello. Can anyone advise re the road closure being signposted near Syon Lane that is due to start tomorrow as I can't seem to find any information about it?Many thanks in advance

Yes, Holland Gardens looks rather good.There were diversion signs pointing up Green Dragon today - it really does need to be avoided at going-home time in particular if at all possible.(Sorry if this is a double post - my first one doesn't appear to have gone off.)

Although Green Dragon Lane isn't signposted as the diversion route, that's clearly the route most people are taking, and I can totally understand where Martin is coming from - it's been bad enough today/tonight at Holland Gardens with cars, usually blindly following one another, beeping at each other as they try to U-turn (how some of the drivers passed their tests given their incomplete inability to perform a 3 point turn is beyond me !) and close calls with cyclists and pedestrians, but I imagine it is far worse at the corner of Ealing Road and Green Dragon Lane.Can't see Green Dragon Lane being closed as the works are only being done between Holland Gardens and North Road.  Glad to hear HG made a goof impression on you Anne !.

Due to posts on here and just plain forgetting, I today indeed had the pleasure of doing a turn in Holland Gardens. It being the first time I've ever ventured up the drive, I was struck that it looks like a pretty nice development.On the way home I forgot again and had to turn back to go up Green Dragon Lane - a trial in itself with cars parked on either side of the road at the Ealing Road end and the journey in all taking 15 minutes. Must remember, when driving, to go via the Great West Road and I would advise others to do likewise.

I would love someone to stand on the corner of Burford Rd / Ealing Rd.Since i came home around 2pm today the noise from the traffic has been ridiculous.Frustrated drivers continuously honking their horns. I'm in one of the walks on the estate and it's bad. heaven knows what it's like for those closer to the junction.I'm guessing at some point Green Dragon will be closed off if the works are between the Bridge and Ealing Rd. Having seen the chaos today it's only going to get far worse before it gets any better.

Thames Water have known about a deficiency in the sewer from Kew Bridge to Ealing Road for nearly three years.All caused by excavation and piling for the buildings on the riverside of Brentford High Street and why there is a regular stench outside the bus stops near the Sainsburys Local at Kew Bridge.The whole road has subsidence issues but no-one will publish or come clean about the problem. Probably due to the hushing up over the extreme contamination of the sub soil and clay from the coal gas and water works from the last 160 years not being fully accounted for.At least Thames Water are getting on with fixing it, But bigger problems lie ahead and no doubt many years of litigation are in the percolator.

OK I have a bit of information. The issue results from an emergency in the sewer system which Thames Water need to fix quickly. They were very keen to get it done before the schools go back so nobody had much notice. Still, not good enough but it puts it a bit into context.

Judging by activity outside, it looks as though the road closure is about to start.

Indeed, no sign of the work starting anytime soon.  I notice there are still no parking cones on Green Dragon Lane, which I think needs road markings applied, so I can't see any closure starting until after that.Absolutely ridiculous that no-one seems to actually know what is going on.

They did the same in South Ealing Road a few weeks ago, then no roadworks occurred. Seems no-one knew apart from TfL. Not even the contractors.Our taxes and pay for this constant incompetence. As for road resurfacing, what happened to this grand project announced to great fanfare to resurface Brentford's potholed and patch ridden roads ? Barely a road has been resurfaced and what has been done is far from a quality job. 3 or 4 years now and I still have more fingers than resurfaced roads.And the real basket cases remain completely untouched.Dreadful for cyclists and yet money gets thrown at schemes which cyclists simply don't use.

Green Dragon Lane has now been resurfaced, what they've actually done is put a new surface on top of the old one.

Yep, a complete mess.And whenever the closure does eventually start, drivers will be more likely to ignore the signage notifying them of the closure because of today's fiasco, so the entrance to Holland Gardens will see loads of U-turn manoeuvres over the coming week or so.  Great (not).

Green Dragon Lane was closed a couple of weeks ago though the resurfacing looks a bit more like minor repairs to me.As of now, buses are running normally, the sign at Kew Bridge says the Road is closed, as does the on in the centre of brentford, but it is facing in the wrong direction (towards Isleworth). There is  a sign outside Goddards saying the S37, 267 are diverted up Ealing Road. I'm pretty sure that I espied a 267 emerging from Ealing Road early afternoon but shortly after they were running merrily along the normal route.Tfl website says the same as it did this morning as do LBH and H Highways websites (ie, nothing!)So it's anybody's guess what's happening.

I thought it was going to be Green Dragon Lane closed for resurfacing. Is the High St in addition to this?

It appears nothing has been closed or diverted as yet. Maybe TFL didn't tell Thames Water either?

Thank you GentsSo I could have gone my normal route this morning at least but funnily enough the train from Twickenham was much easier in the end so I might start using instead in the future

This is the update from TFL re. bus routes 267 and 237:HIGH STREET BRENTFORD / NORTH ROAD, TW8: From 0930 Monday 22 August until 1700 Friday 02 September, buses towards Hammersmith are diverted from High Street, Brentford at the junction with Ealing Road, via Ealing Road, A4 Great West Road and Chiswick High Road. Buses towards Fulwell are diverted from Chiswick High Road at Chiswick Roundabout via A4 Great West Road, Ealing Road to rejoin line of route on Brentford High Street.

The radio is warning of delays between St Margarets roundabout and Richmond circus because of other road works.  Philippa's computer is playing at road blockages methinks.

I'm not tremendously happy not to be forewarned. It won't affect me much personally but I imagine it will cause a fair amount of chaos, even in August. Whether TfL told anybody - I am trying to find out.

Why isn't this on the front page?[A315] High Street (Both Directions) between Kew Bridge Road and Ealing Road - To facilitate urgent Thames Water works, there will be a full closure between North Street and Holland Gardens, with a diversion via Kew Bridge Road. Chiswick High Road, A4 and Ealing Road, and vice versa.

According to TFL, it will be closed in both directions from Kew Bridge to Ealing Road until Friday 2nd September.
