Parking Tickets in Haverfield Estate

I have recently been issued a parking ticket in Walnut Tree Road,for parking by a drop down curb.Its the stretch of road that the council installed a double yellow line the whole length of Walnut Tree Road.After a re-think they decided to remove a section from the middle of this line. You would think that it would be okay to park where the yellow line ends, this is not the case because after the yellow line stops there is a drop down curb, this is where I have been issued the ticket.My question is:Why have the council removed the already placed double yellow line from crossing the drop down curb and stopping at a point leaving the curb on an unrestricted part of the road.For clarity and fairness the line should incorporate the drop down curb.Is the reason a creation of a "Honey Trap"?I would love your comments and would be interested in your parking experiences on the Haverfield Estate.

Completely agree Alex.However it still does not give anyone the right to break the law and then complain when they are punished for it.

"One day there will be an incident on the Havefield where emergency service vehicles are unable to get to it due to all the idiots parking all over the place - drop kerbs, pavements, down the alleys behind the blocks - it's beyond a joke now."And the real problem is that someone allows new development without sufficient parking. The thinking that people will not drive  because someone made sure they have nowhere ti park is ridiculous.

It never ceases to amaze me the ignorance of some people when it comes to parking vehicles.Parking by a drop down kerb is an obstruction - pure and simple - it's the law. It doesn;t need yellow lines and doesn;t matter if it did and now doesn't. I suggest you read up on your highway code. Rule 243.As somebody who regularly has to dodge around cars parked on pavements and drop kerbs all over the Haverfield i can't begin to tell you how bloody annoying it is and i'm not someone pushing a childs buggy and having to walk in the road as a result of it.Common sense and decency should have been used at the time of deciding to park there.One day there will be an incident on the Havefield where emergency service vehicles are unable to get to it due to all the idiots parking all over the place - drop kerbs, pavements, down the alleys behind the blocks - it's beyond a joke now.

I am totally amazed by how few people realise it is illegal to park adjacent to a dropped kerb.  Highway Code Rule 243 explains it, maybe you should read it, it may save you from further parking tickets.

The ends have been properly capped.If common sense and decency were used the line would incorporate the drop down curb, but common sense and decency do not put monies into the council coffers.The fact the lines have been removed and covered can only imply it is okay to park there, Am I wrong?

JohnI wouldn't have parked in front of a drop kerb myself, with or without any restrictions.The haverfield estate surfers from unauthorised parking because of the roads with CPZ 's and the new developments that are being built with very little space to park for the new residences.It is amazing what the residents get a ticket for, parking half on the kerb, parking out of the way on the green verges, plus many other so call parking offences.The Estate itself has become a honey trap for our wonderful traffic wardens who know they can make up there quota by just having a quick walk around the estate. It would be interesting to know if where the double yellow lines have been taken away, if the solid yellow end has been added to them or have they been left without.
