District Heating Charges

I've received a huge bill, over the estimate, for district heating for the year. It's £233 more than the council thought it would be (£618 each). When contacting the council I've been told communal heating makes things much cheaper! In my experience I'm now paying £318 more, for just heating (still got electricity on top) than I did for elec and gas combined at my previous residence. Does anyone know if the charges are per unit or if they are proportional to the number of bedrooms/ rooms you have? Is there an option to have a meter or will I have the pleasure of not using my heating for another winter whilst coming home to heat blasting from neighbours wide open windows?

In that case go straight to Mr Curran and let him deal with the problem.These are the very rip offs that the present government has vowed to take on.So a letter to local MPs and the minister in charge of this domain whatever that may be perhaps?

Does Steve Curran have that power? I suppose so if the associations are partly funded by the Council. Or are they?

Are there any tenants' associations left in the borough?  I thought Steve Curran had closed them all down.

Also ask if meters have ever been read as previous experience I have had meters were not being read regularly

Thanks Vanessa. I'm a leaseholder. I'll have a look for the Leaseholder contact info on the Hounslow website. If this is going to be a regular thing I may as well just pay them my wages directly and cut out the middle man!

Are you a leaseholder or a tenant? If the former there is a borough Leaseholder's Association, if a tenant do you have a tenants/residents association? I'd certainly contact a local councillor, and ask them to get a breakdown of how the bill is calculated.
