I'm not talking about her objecting as an MP, and anyway she was local Councillor at the time but that's irrelevant.  The house in question is next door to her house in Brentford - the adjoining party-wall house.  One might have expected her to object to the building works that started before any planning permission was given as other neighbours in the street were doing, and then afterwards once the plans were eventually made public.

An MP putting in an objection to a minor residential extension application on the basis of speculation as to the intended ultimate intention of the applicant ? - now that is a laughable suggestion.An MP is only going to put in an objection on behalf of constituents when it is a major application likely to have a significant impact on the locality.  Secondly, be it an MP or a neighbour, an objection to an application speculating as to the ultimate intentions of the applicant is completely futile, the Council can only consider the merits of the proposal before it.

She could have put in an objection to the planning application that was obviously intended for multi-occupancy rather than keeping quiet for whatever reason.

There were several reports in the recent issue of 'Hounslow Matters' about how rogue landlords were made to demolish appalling outbuildings they were letting out, I think there are just so many they have a job keeping up! Ruth, like the rest of us can't change planning legislation just because something horrible is near her or she doesn't like it, since the government took it into their heads to relax planning rules, I fear more monstrosities will appear.

What is there that Ruth could have realistically done to 'stop the monstrosity of a house extension' in Clifden Road? You/We/I/She may not particularly like the look of it any more than I may like the look of carbuncles of attic spaces added to an increasing number of Victorian properties around here but that doesn't make them illegal or something which can be stopped. If you know otherwise, please enlighten me.With regard to the illegal bed-in-shed garden structure, have you tried contacting the Council yourself? It seems to me from reading Hounslow Matters that the Council has had a good degree of success in having these structures compulsorily demolished.

Maybe it will give her some clout to get back the money lost to HH and the public purse, in their recent fraud scandal.  Could use it to upgrade from communal boilers to individual heating boilers with individual accountability for heating bills.  What was the end result of the police investigation into the fraud, anyone?

I think it’s a joke!  She did nothing to stop the monstrosity of a house extension which includes an illegal bed-in-shed garden structure being built next door to her in Clifden Road.
