Air Pollution and Heathrow

I see lots of us are worried that Heathrow expansion would mean yet more traffic clogging up Brentford. But it looks likely that we will not be included in Mayor's ultra low emission zone, and extra mitigation funding tends to go to central London boroughs. Anyone concerned about this should fill in Stage 2 of the Mayor's consultation on air pollution as soon as the airport expansion announcement is made (expected tuesday 25th I think). What happened to all the election pledges about Heathrow? Politicians always use air pollution statistics to suit themselves. You really can't trust any of them.

Whole thing is a stitch up and as usual a gravy train for the usual clique with agendas and career interests.Far too much emphasis is deliberately being foisted on road vehicles.The latest TfL report claims just 6% of London traffic is Taxis. Very hard to believe. Black cabs are all still diesel and a walk around Morrisons car park today revealed 37 cars out of 53 sporting a TfL minicab sticker.it would be good if TfL put it's own methods in order before cooking up more distortions to suit the whims of the Mayors office.No mention at all of the huge output of pollutants from hi rise buildings, both commercial and residential and the effects these have on air flow and circulation upon low rise homes up to 1000m away.  Nothing at all mentioned about that. Or allowing a City airport or even Heathrow with approached over an increasingly dense population.Curbing private and local commercial traffic is the only means as big business and vested interests get their way with the quite bizarre means of buying carbon units to get themselves off the polluting hook.In fact just like residents CPZs it simply shifts the problem on to someone else.No-one in charge of this can be trusted, it's all smoke and mirrors and indicative of the mess have allowed to be mismanaged and corrupted in an acceptable way.
