Balloons over Brentford ?

I see that ianvisits reports :Thousands of balloons released over BrentfordSaturday, 22nd Oct 2016 2:15 pm - 3:15 pmNot sure why, but there's an air traffic warning that around 4,000 helium balloons are to be released over Brentford.The notice cites a location that happens to be Brentford FC football ground, although that is usually just an estimate, and they do have a football match later in the afternoon.Coincidence, or maybe some sort of unrelated PR stunt.Whatever the reason is, environmentalists will hate it.Cost: Freehttps://www.ianvisits.co.uk/calendar/2016/10/22/thousands-of-balloons-released-over-brentford-116122

Thank goodness!  How about making T shirts, back packs or other things that people will wear,  reuse and repeat the message for months to come?  If making back packs how about making them with reflective strips for the Winter, might save a life as well....

If we said we were going to print up 4000 carrier bags and drop them all over the area maybe by throwing them from the top of one of the new tower blocks on a windy day?

Brentford's game against Barnsley on Saturday is their 4,000th league game at Grifgin Park so I assume the balloons are to celebrate that.Don't see the point it will be lost on most people and just causes unnecessary litter and a danger to many animals.

gel packs are used by serious runners - they energise and put electrolytes into the body on long runs.  The problem is the runners drop the empty packs and the deer eat them - and this causes terrible suffering to the deer.  With regard balloons - they are a menace in my opinion.  They end up in the Thames, then out to sea and sea creatures mistake them for squid and eat them - then die as they cannot digest the material.  Isn't it sad how our careless actions cause animals harm.

What are gel packs - something to relieve sore muscles? Never heard of them.

There was recently a report of the deer in Richmond park being killed by eating the gel packs cyclists were disgarding.  We have been reducing the plastic bags for environmental reasons, balloons are pure pollution and isn't there a shortage of helium?
