Brentford Post Office closed

Closed yesterday afternoon and again this morning.  No notice on the shutters.  Has it now gone forever?

I like the one in the parade at Boston Manor. Usually two windows open most of the time, friendly staff who know what they're doing. The cafe bit is rather good too. Probably a mile and a half from me, it's true that the nearest sub-Post Office to one is gradually getting further and further away. The big Post Office in Chiswick is still almost bearable.

I was in there getting some stamps a few days before it closed and there was water leaking from the ceiling onto the post office area. Whether that caused a major localised power outage, who knows?

Isn't there a legal requirement for the Post Office to provide a service where there is supposed to be one?They used to set up a special vehicle for when a sub office closed unexpectedly.Especially now as there is not a proper or sub post office for miles without rather time consuming journey in any direction.

I posted a letter yesterday the 3.11.16 and asked a person who seemed to know what he was talking about and the intention is for the shop to be closed and the post office located to another premises close bye, still to be confirmed.

I tweeted the Post Office. The reply was :"I can confirm that due to unforeseen circumstances the branch has had to close. We're working hard re-open the branch."Not particularly helpful.

When we walked past this afternoon, they still had the 'power outage' notice in the window and the shutters were down except for the one over the entrance, which was half down. There were people/workmen inside in the dark possibly sizing up the situation, but it wasn't possible to see much more from outside. The 'power outage' is obviously limited to those premises as the shops on either side were fully illuminated. You'd think if it was a localised electrical fault they'd have fixed it by now.

Yes I heard today that it is due to move across the road at some time soon. Not sure where though as I don't know of any empty premises along that side of the high St. Was also told it would be back open from today but it sounds like that's not the case.

There was a notice in there a while back, saying it would be moving across the road at some stage in the near future.

HelloI walked past today and it is still closed. I was on the other side of the road so I am not sure if there is an updated notice re the reason (yesterday the note still said it was due to a power outage)

I work at Royal Mails Brentford Delivery Office. We've been told nothing about the closure officially - which is very strange as we have things for them on a daily basis - internal communications, peoples giro books, foreign currency etc.Rumour is they have done a moonlight flit - hence the empty shelves - but i cannot confirm or deny this.

Hounslow post office used to amaze me as the queue went down the street and they still did not fill all the cashier positions!  In fact, have you ever been in a post office where the cashiers desks were filled?  Of course it might be different in Hounslow now, I never shop there.

I don't know that people expected to happen when the P.O. was privatised - customers always come second to shareholders. Similarly with councils 'outsourcing' - the problem is that some councils pimp themselves out to take on work for others, then take on so much they only do a half- assed job, and again residents suffer. When there's no-one else to go to for these services you are stuffed.

What a tacky shambles a once proud and iconic institution has become.If you think the Brentford one is bad try the one in South Ealing. If the queue reaches the door, they close a counter. The staff cannot handle the pressure and won't hire more staff because the franchisee likes the income more than the work they have to do for it.  It can take 45 mins to get a stamp in there and you cannot move for shop stock. Barely any better is the apology of a post office in WHSmiths in Ealing Broadway.The Post Office is something that is still a very useful place but it's management over the last 35 years is truly rubbish, opportunities squandered and missed and as for customer service….!!!Nobody gets a good deal, the sub-postmasters or the customers. But the CEO and Co do very nicely out of it.

Perhaps they have sent their staff to a charm school to learn some basics in personal interactive skills when serving customers. Most of them are badly in need of it.

Yesterday there was a sign saying closed due to a power outage and to use Isleworth Post office. However the shop is mainly full of empty shelves so not sure if it is heading that way.
