Has anyone got one of these new 'smart meters'? On face value I can't wait to get one as it tells you the cost of your energy, as you use it. No more long calculations to work out the next bill...

Hi Teresa, sounds like the meter did its job if you were wondering how the money was spent. We used to have a power saving plug which the fridge had to be plugged in to. I only remembered that when I saw your post. Will have to check out what happened to the plug as it isn't on the fridge now ...

I have them and its depressing...........we were out from 09:00 to 19:00 yesterday and when I came in, lit in lovely lights on the monitor it told me I had spent £7.50 that day on energy........goodness knowns how only the fridge was on! it went up to more than £9 by bedtime. scary to see it like that.

I installed one from Ovo Energy. I found very useful!

No, I haven't.But I gather we'll all be kitted out with them by 2020.And at London Assembly today, someone was saying that out of 300 clients they dealt with, only 8 would read and understand their existing utility bill.
