Sorry, Not intended to offend the suggestion. It's fine if one sits all day and night at a computer or have had a smartphone grafted onto one's hand. For many it suits and in general it's an additional convenience. Albeit the cost in energy, rare resources, ink, paper and charges are seldom factored in, quite an expensive thing in reality. Costs are merely shifted, not saved. Real costs are much higher through duplicity. But that printed calendar stuck on a wall or fridge etc is a quick, simple and easy way of checking in seconds and costs nothing. No 5 min search, no use of energy apart from one's own, and easy to convey to others. And it is apparent that a heck of a lot of locals do not have access or the ability to use all the gadgetry, or keep up with it's constant evolving. Almost as many as do as don't.  This does not mean they are second rate citizens. It's funny but we have a society and culture which carps on and legislates for equality but when it comes to technology we discriminate between those who have and can, against this who either have not or cannot. And it is becoming rife, in all sorts of areas.Try going without a phone , laptop &  desktop computer for just a few days.Or just use a basic phone. No printer, no internet. It's great to have and how it has taken over how we do everything. But it has also made life so much more awkward for those who are not so fortunate.Simple things like eyesight or arthritis can despatch even the most computer savvy into the wilderness and suffer the indignity of having to rely on others more than they need to.All those people are out there. But obviously they won't ever be on this forum, but we all ought to remember that.
