Huge fire behind Gillettes

Maybe on Transport Avenue?I was driving from Kingston to Twickenham this morning and could see a huge dark cloud which I thought was a rain cloud.  Then the plume became more shaped and it was obviously a huge fire.The air is caustic so goodness knows what is in it.  Hope everyone is safe. X

Bit like when the recycling truck sits ticking over for the best part of 10 minutes, whilst it collects the contents of one bin full of recyclable materials.  Never have worked that one out.

Bit ironic if a recycling centre was responsible for all that environmental pollution.

It seemed to be almost next to the railway line from where I was standing on the Grasshoppers pitches. I thought it was on the West London Waste Transfer Land (though I don't know the site).Am I right in thinking that WLW are shredding recyclable materials before sending it by train to the new incinerator at Severnside ? Or was it a car scrapyard ?I am still trying to match up the planning application P/2013/2123 with aerial views from Googlemaps !

According to the Beeb it is the recycling centre 80 fire-fighters in attendance plus another big industrial fire in North London too!

I believe it is a car scrapyard amongst other things so probably tyres and upholstery going up.Cops and firefighters say it's under control, though they are taking water from the canal and there's a firefighter with a hose high above on a cherrypicker (or was half an hour ago)

Yes, it's the recycling plant on Transport Avenue. 60 firefighters at it, apparently...
