Brentford Library...

not to open till after the New Year, we are told in headline item here and the TW8 Newsletter. This would be new year 2018, presumably because that would make total sense. How long has it been now? Two months? "Three ceilings need to be replaced". A child of five with a ladder could have figured this out Day One. Sheesh. Hark! What's that noise? Fred Turner, Nowell Parr and Andrew Carnegie - spinning in their graves.

Excellent to have an update from Guy Lambert.  And to hear that he is very much on the case.  As an ex contractor myself I do know that the whole Christmas period is a nightmare time for getting work done, for many reasons.  So hopefully there will an update re progress soon.  Thanks Guy

I omitted to update this week as I have no news beyond what is published.I have chased the corporate property group (who are reliant on our outsourced contractors, Carillion) for an update earler in the week.There is no question about the library reopening - it will, just as soon as the structure is fixed. It's hugely frustrating for councillors as well as the public (I am a regular user myself, apart from anything else) that it's not reopened yet, and we are chasing at least weekly.

I am sure Cllr Lambert will give a full update in his weekly blog or perhaps not!Maybe the matter is not really worthy of a comment?

It seems a shame in my humble that the library can't be incorporated somehow into the services and facilities of the new Watermans, particularly as the sights are so near. It's such a lovely building and would give it a new lease of life.

I have noticed that upstairs in the library is still in use. As all ceilings are to be repaired, surely having a load ( any load ) on top is counter productive. Unless upstairs has been passed as safe??????

Hmm - i personally wonder if the Library will open again.  Not looking good at the moment
