Policing updates on Brentford and Syon wards

HiReading this article, it seems most of the issues in the area are caused by these so called “estate building”.They need to add MacDonald’s to this as well, as there is always kids hanging around there causing issues, or trying to be gangsters.  Maybe this is a bit extreme, but I assume a lot of these are council owned, so why just re-locate the people there, and build new flats. Great investment for all.

Alex - you can zoom in to 'sub-ward level' for example the Green Dragon Towers area or the 'new town' around Griffin Park. Not quite street level but near enough IMO. So you can see that 'violence against the person' is higher than average in the Haverfield estate area and non existent in Boston Manorwhilst 'theft from a motor vehicle' is above average in the Towers area and non-existent in the Clayponds estate

Vanessa, nobody is "demonising fellow residents based solely on where they happen to live". There are a lot of nice people who happen to live in council owned houses. Unfortunately there are some issues, however, and it is not good to turn a blind eye on them.

Thanks Guy.Unfortunately this map is too high level and thus does not address the local issues. What it does show for example is that the crime rate is higher in areas that attract people - like central London, Camden, Westfield - heaven for pickpockets and the like. However it does not address the details of any particular area, in our case - Brentford. But we do know that there are certain areas/places that have higher crime and/or ASB rates.

Met Police data on crime (maps) is herehttp://maps.met.police.uk/?areacode=E09000018It's not obvious how you use it, but if you zoom in, borough, ward and sub-ward maps open up. Not quite down to street level, but quite small areas.

Sorry but to me around Brendford and some surrounding areas, where there are plenty of council homes, that is where there are issues. I have no issues with Council homes, but from what i can see most of the troubles arise from there. There are places in Brentford which are a no go zone after dark, for example Albany Road, near the huge council estate. Walk at your risk, as people there are always up to something. It would great to see crime rate by sreet in Brentford. Or even where the poeople live who causes issues.

Vanessa, where did you read that the topic starter wrote that "crime ONLY happens in places where there may be council owned homes"?Can you please advise where is there MORE crime - "in places where there may be council owned homes" or in places without "council owned homes"?Why is the area of the council owned homes around Netley Road constantly covered with litter?May be it is time to admit that there is a problem and deal with it rather than stick heads in the sand and pretend that everything is fine?

What a very unfair and nasty post.Do you seriously think that crime only happens in places where there may be council owned homes? Do you think that people living in some areas want rough sleepers in their area? The fault here is not enough building of public housing and a police service that is chronically underfunded, and a government starving local councils of money. This has led to the terrible cuts threatened in local Youth Services, really bright that idea. So to answer you query -"Maybe this is a bit extreme" - the answer is yes and it's ill-informed to boot.
