Road works in Brentford high street

Hi does any one happen to know how long the works in the high street are going to go on for ?

To add insult to injury the westbound bus stop is now closed. Still, at least walking from the County Court to Tallow Road is much quicker than sitting on the bus.

Very true, Jim, but this is not a project undertaken by a council but by a private company. I could tell you some stories about spend by central government on IT equipment in March, back in the day!

Thank you Jim for endorsing what I said despite other opinions. Might it not be better for the departments responsible for roadworks spent the necessary on projects as they came up and if there was no more dosh left by, say, then end of Feb. then that's a good indicator of the budgets needing a boost?

When I worked for local government (not Hounslow)using up the road budget in the 3 months before April was a regular necessity in case the following year's budget was cut. JL

Very much doubt whatever you like but this happens every year,beginning right after the new year. Various different companies , including councils doing work that should have been done earlier in the year but instead we get them all at once.

I very much doubt that National Grid - a private company - has any desire to spend money at this time of year - rather the opposite, I would have thought!

Another nightmare week to come then.  Couldn't someone authorise the rephrasing of the Half Acre / Beehive junction lights?  Tailbacks to Brentford station today, and coming west took 20 minutes from Pin Thai to the gas works.

I understand this is an emergency gas repair. Hounslow Highways believe it is scheduled to be completed 3rd February but of course the works are not managed by them but the utility (I presume National Grid)

Judging by the size of the hole in the road this won't be a quick fix.  The temporary lights are all very well but how come no-one though to include the lights at the junction with Half Acre into the temporary scheme? It took 10 minutes to turn west out of Half Acre at midday todayAlso it took 20 minutes from the Coach & Horses to Tallow Road at 3.30pm yesterday. Inconvenience, pollution....sigh
