My Anti-Brexit letter to MP Ruth Cadbury.

Dear Ruth,Ann Keen went down in history as a MP who ignored the wishes of her constituents and voted in favour of expansion at Heathrow airport. This and the expenses debacle led to her loosing her parliamentary seat.At the referendum your constituency voted in favour of remaining within the European Union, yet it has been reported that you are intending to comply with the Labour party Whip and support Brexit. Going against the wishes of your constituents is bad enough, but you are now in a position to see that it is forcing Britain into a forced marriage with Donald Trump. Every part of your conscience knows that President Trump is a racist, sexist, Climate Change denying, nationalistic fascist who replaces any top officials who dare to confront him. By supporting Brexit, you are strengthening the World standing of Donald Trump and thereby not only making the World a more divided place, but are making it a far more volatile and dangerous. Your knowledge of history is good enough to recognise that men like Trump are the cause of World Wars. So be very clear in your decision making, by supporting Brexit, you are inadvertently supporting Donald Trump, and in so doing you may contribute to a sequence of events which may start World War Three, killing millions of people.Yours Sincerely,Peter Hughes

She voted against Brexit and the vast majority of her constituents voted against Brexit. She is the voice for the majority of her constituents. Well done and congratulations to her for standing up to Corbyn!

As Ruth herself said, do you expect her to vote on everything with the Tories, just because the Tories won the last election?

Yes indeed. Congratulations and sincere thanks to our MP Ruth Cadbury who stood by her convictions and showed her respect for her constituents who voted by such a vast majority to remain. She deserves our utmost respect!

Hi Guy,Yes, I saw on the evening news that she did in fact vote against, so I wrote her another letter praising her actions, which went:Dear Ruth,I wrote earlier today because I feared you were bowing to pressure from your party's three-line whip. Jeremy Corbin should have allowed a free vote on this subject and it is yet another disappointing example of his handling of the European subject. I greatly respect your integrity and sticking to your principles. Theresa May and her Government are completely betraying the best interests of the country and World peace. I hope that you and the other 46 Labour MPs who have shown courage, are able to limit the damage being caused by our current political direction.

Well done to Ruth, also Rupa Huq and Andy Slaughter. Presume the whips must have softened their message as the scale of the revolt unfolded. Disappointing misjudgement from the leadership but they are attempting to bridge the national divide over that badly constructed, ill informed, narrow majority, advisory referendum. Cameron to the Tower with a few choice others!!

Peter, I too think Ruth should have voted no (presume she did not as no mention in the press) but cannot see how you can link this to your rant about Trump...... In fact she spoke strongly in favour of Ed Milibands motion condemning his executive order on Monday. I've only recently discovered Channel 81 (BBC Parliament) and have been watching the rather impassioned speeches from both sides. The vote went the way it was expected to so no surprises there.

Anne - I hope you are right, as there have been varying reports as to her intentions. It is still worth writing to her though, to remind her of her duty not only to her constituents, but also to humanity.

A referendum is only an advisory gathering of opinion. It is not binding on Parliament, who must consider the best interests of the country. At the time of the referendum, very few people in this country realised it would lead us into having to make a deal with Donald Trump. In the face of this new reality, which means a costly hard exit from Europe and a supporting of the repulsive Trump, the majority of the British public would now prefer to stay in Europe.Besides, Ruth Cadbury's first allegiance should be to her own constituents, of whom the clear majority had the good sense to vote Remain.
