CPZ Brentford

We've had the BRS CPZ for nearly 2 years now but no consultation as to how we all think it's working. I thought we had a consultation after 12 months. So why no consultation so far? And how DOES everyone think its working?

Agree. The CPZ works fine. Perhaps as good as one could expect.Braemar Road in next to the football grounds does get busy during the day. But it seems an acceptable compromise for free parking between 11am and 7pm for visitors.I just wish drivers think a bit more about others when they park, park efficiently and leave space for others to park.

According to Andrew Nye at the council's Parking Management group, the BRS review was initially delayed due to "limited staff resources".However, they're now delaying it further because of the new proposal for yet another zone to cover Haverfields/Brentford Towers. He told me that if the latter goes ahead (which I hope it won't, as it totally fails to address the hours when we really have problems), then the two would be reviewed together "6-12 months after implementation".Given that HBT is still only a proposal and it will take some time for them to either agree it's not appropriate or ram it through regardless, I suspect you could be looking at 18-24 months for your BRS review.

"I think it works better than what was proposed initially and hence the general contentment."Interesting... Do you think there aAre there enough spaces left for everyone, then? I ask because it's not unusual to see BRS-badged vehicles parked in our car park, just outside the zone, during 7-8pm.

I can't get up my road (Braemar) during match days/evenings as the road is blocked off at either end!Re the BRS CPZ, I think it works rather well.

I think it works better than what was proposed initially and hence the general contentment.And far better than I had envisaged. Having lived in a far more draconian CPZ which really did badly affect local people and young parents and elderly in particular.It's worked out better and more resident friendly than expected . Not that any CPZ is ideal and the big worry is if the Council start to abuse those residents who happen to reside in a CPZ by hiking up charges and screwing every last penny out of them rather like Ealing who have renagued on all their original resident partnerships for a fair and resident first not for profit service.When compared with other local issues which pose to ruin the district for good. This one only came about because the local council listened after a huge petition.

I can now always park on my road, any time of day including match days, so can visitors. Our street is no longer used as a car park for those who work up the road.What is there not to like ?
