Lollipop, lollipop

What a stupid and crass decision to threaten to get rid of the Lollipop patrols outside schools, how on earth can the council ask schools to think about paying when they are facing a massive squeeze on their budgets? Incidentally I have been told that the cost of the planters put in and paid for by Hounslow when Church St. was 'temporarily' closed, would have paid the salary for one Lollipop person for three years! Nice one!Have these people not heard of priorities, tough one, please a few bods in Church St versus children's safety,Hmmmmm. Suppose it depends on who your friends in high places are?

Everyone who got a letter re the Church St. consultation just recently was also given an alternative to request a paper copy to complete. Good point about the ridiculous cost of what this 'temporary closure' cost though, seems this 'Labour' council can look after the well-heeled but forget children.

...and what about the thousands that do not use Facebook or the great many still not on the internet?This is hardly democratic.  Just like the GLA survey on pollution. Internet consultation only.Using just 15,000 respondents ( out of 8 million eligible to respond ) , not all of whom agreed, to justify a mandate is plain wrong. If there is a petition or consultation it really ought to be accessible to all and nit just a few.So please put the links and locations up to at least be able to convey to those who don't even have access to this forum etc.

re/ planning application, log in to facebook.com/notohurchstreetclosure, scroll down for ages till you come to consultation and monkey survey form to print off to show whether you agree or disagree with permanent closure of Church st.  Must be sent in by March 1st for final meeting on March 23rd. Seem in rush to get it through after insisting on full 18 months trial to be valid!? Do pass on to other people

What about some £120,000 for "trial" closure of Church St. compared with cost of lollipop patrols to protect the vulnerable attempting to cross road.

Does anybody know how the planning application in Church Street is progressing?  How fortuitous was it for the applicant that this closure came along when it did?

Still cannot get over Church street and the huge knock on effect on the smaller roads around the Isleworth station area.This story of Hounslow cutting the lollipop people was on the news yesterday morning.
