To AllWhy is it that a good percentage of prospective candidates from any party seem to do very little work in the community before being selected to run for office? Then if they loose, just disappear into the woodwork never to be herd of again. To clarify my first post, I think the general public look at voting in a general election in different ways. Some go by the parties manifesto and really think it out others may use a tactical vote such as a pensioner or vote the way they’ve always done for years regardless who the candidate is.I think it’s about time some people really looked long and hard at what any prospective candidate has done for their constituency before being selected. It seems to me that most of the candidates haven’t been that active in the community before being selected, and going by the last election, when they loose just drop out of the political seen never to be heard of again.Isn’t about time that a candidate had to do a form of apprenticeship before being selected to be a candidate, and be either a Councillor ex Councillor or Officer before hand, they would then have a very good insight into the issues in the constituency they are going to represent.I am prepared to change political parties to elect an MP that I think would represent my constituency when it comes to voting in the commons on issue that effect me, but I can only do that if I knew about their back ground and track record.  So I know all the names of the candidates in the Brentford & Isleworth ward, but only know the background and track record of two of them, so it’s going to be one of the two on the 5th May
