Parking on Double Yellows

I've noticed so many cars are parking on double yellow lines between the allocated cpz parking spaces. It's so bad that the re cycling lorry had to revers along Mafeking Avenue due to the corner being too tight due to cars on both sides of the corner on the double yellow lines.It seems it's a known fact that tickets won't happen for the most if one Parker their car in these areas.If we're paying for the CPZ surely the areas should be checked more than they currently are here in Brentford?

Don't you believe it.They hit Brook Road regularly on Saturday and Sunday Mornings and do anything on a yellow line double or singles.  The yellow lines are not part of the CPZ.Most were there before the CPZ but some have been extended and changed from single to double.That's why I asked if you were in a CPZ bay or on a yellow line.

I have a permit and got a ticket on match morning even though I was here before the cancellation of zone notices went up.. I'm fighting it and they should see their error.In Mafeking Avenue no one ever checks double yellows. They only check during CPZ permitted hours to catch the few who have stayed too long.

I have seen that CPZ van many times round the Brentford area.  And I have seen tickets on cars parked 'illegally'.

In Clifden Road a cctv car regularly drives along checking registrations. Usually spot on the restriction time.

Do you mean you were in a bay with a valid BRS permit? Or on a Yellow Line with a BRS permit?What is annoying is the plethora of very long vans that seem to be parked day and night with visitors permits and a few with permits that are way longer than the 5.25m overall length and well over 2.5m high.We had one outside with a visitors permit for 6 days over Easter which shut out all the light and blocked our entire view. It's really antisocial. They are taking up 2 to three normal car spaces but also making it very difficult to park anything.Surely a location to park vans and specialist working vehicles ought to be factored in to any CPZ or local plan. They are vital to some peoples living but not suitable for clogging up tiny streets where everyone else is paying to park normal sized cars.

This just gets better.Having parked our car in Brooke Road earlier this week, which is a street away from our home (due to spaces available at the time) I find a this morning while walking to the train station we've been given a parking ticket. It seems on Thursday this week they suspended the CPZ bay for queues for the football match. All cars in the bay were ticketed. Only the homes directly outside the bay received a letter informing them of the upcoming parking suspension. Surely, every home in the BRS CPZ should have received the same letter? They can't fine owners who's cars were there before the notice went up? And, the cars continue to park on double yellow lines and still not get a ticket. The chap was there quick enough to hand out tickets this morning yet neglected to check any other part of the BRS zone.Where he would have found cars on double yellows as usual.

There are two cars in particular who continually do it on Mafeking Avenue and I believe they may be residents who just can't be bothered to find a parking space.  They usually do it overnight as they're there when I leave at 0700hrs...even I had trouble getting around the corner the other morning.  One of the cars is a navy blue people carrier that has a 'baby on board' sticker in it.  It's pure laziness and it's driving me up the wall.I wish a warden could come around in the evening when they do it!

I've just heard that the start date has been put back to 24th April. Letters inviting applications for permits should be out this week.

I have been informed that permits will only be issued to vehicles that are registered at the address of the person applying for a permit. Also commercials will not be issued with a permit. My concern now is that Haverfields CPZ starts two weeks today. As yet no information has been received on applying for a permit. The time frame now, is send these out, people returning, and issue of permits. In two weeks?

They do ticket vehicles on yellow lines and at anytime.Saturday and Sunday Mornings are a favourite. But the real problem is the sheer amount of massive cars and long wheelbase vans that people are getting, presumably as status symbols as they are pretty impractical for even our small local main roads. Many are wider than the marked bays and longer than some houses.It seems to be a new phenomenon and I'm sure it's a side effect of the cost of permits - " I may as well get my money's worth"  Many of the larger vans park nightly with visitors permits.These large vehicles ought to be paying a lot more than normal sized cars and really very small cars ought to be paying a little less.

Thanks Martin. Walnut Tree was one of the main problems driving the CPZ proposal. Here's hoping (and determined we will finally fix this!)

I would like to see what if anything will be done in certain blackspot areas on the Haverfield with regard parking through the CPZ.One area in particular is the bottom of Walnut Tree Rd. I used to get a lift to work from a colleague who lives at the bottom of Perran Walk in this area.We would often struggle at 6am to get the car down Walnut Tree Rd. Cars parked all over the place and on the kerbs both sides of the Rd. On more than one occasion we had to forget the car and walk because we just couldn't get it through. The car was a tiny little Citroen not some big thing.     The worry is that if ever emergency services need to get down there in the night they would find it impossible.  It's the same where i live where car parks are accessed from Burford Rd. The car parks have vehicles parked in every space. Ignoring disabled bays and then parking down the middle of the car park making it difficult for those that have parked correctly to get out.The CPZ is not going to affect it in any way i can see.I will let Guy know how it goes once the Haverfield CPZ comes into force

I do see traffic wardens in the area. They seem to choose end of day around 19:30. However they don't seem to check when the zones are out of hours so it's a free for all on single and double yellows.I'm surprised the refuse and re cycle collection teams don't have the ability to call a cpz warden on a moped to sort out bad parking that's blocking their route.

Hello Jai, I've picked up comments about insufficient enforcement in Layton Road but never before about Mafeking. I'll try to remember to check it out next week, plus ask enforcement to up their game.CPZs across the borough seem to work OK and I think Haverfield/Green Dragon will work too. I'll be keeping an eye out but do alert me to problems by PM or via guy.lambert@hounslow.gov.uk

I think the majority of  parking enforcement officers are patrolling around Chiswick most of the time. Sitting outside the police station they were passing every five minuets

Couldn't agree more.As far as i know the CPZ on the Haverfield hasn't actually started yet. But i cannot see how it is supposed to work?    During match days you would need a small army to get round and check and ticket the whole area. Even during the week on non-match days it would be the same. So this must mean that more than often it will go unchecked and people will just park all over the place as they always have.     The new road marking on the Haverfield have done nothing to stop anything so far. Cars and large commercial vehicles are seen parking on double yellows all over the place and on the kerbs near the old Pottery Arms pub they even park on the drop down kerbs, on double yellows, blocking the footpath.      This is going to be another complete waste of time and money as far as i can see.
