Market Square parking

Have I missed something: is parking now allowed on the market square courtyard?  There were at least 6 cars parked on the square last night.  So much for the community space and its expensive water features (when were they last working?) and lighting.  How long before there is parking there day-time too?

So this about two market squares? Gotcha - but neither seems to be satisfactory.

My recollection is that the square was refurbished at great cost by Hounslow also with money from the Mayor of London. I imagine that someone would have had the sense to check the ownership of the land prior to spending our money, also prior to this the space was car parking for the Magistrate's Court, so can't see that it does belong to anyone else. Surely one of the Brentford councillors must know? Up to them to get this resolved.

I thought I read a while back that the council paid to refurbish the old square only to find that the landlord of the viaduct building claimed the area out in front of his building as his. If so the area they are parking in is technically private land and this may be why it's not controlled.

At the new development right by Kew Bridge, I thought the area outside Hammonds butchers/deli would be nice to have some tables and seating for people.  Particularly if they open up one of the bridge arches to provide an easier path to Strand on the Green, as has been talked about.I asked someone in Hammonds.  Nope, they aren't allowed to.  You've guessed it, because of car parking...

I would love to see these small open squares being used by local dance groups or bands.  Even better would be a modern interpretation of the band stand.

Yes, I've seen this too, it's your all too common square type arrangement which is abused apart from on market day.I still hate the bare square within the Kew Bridge West development that is such a complete waste of what could have been a really nice public square with seating, landscaping etc. - as my Mrs. often says it looked better when the marketing showroom was there (of course the flat owners there wouldn't say that).  To me it ruins which is in other respects a attractive development (not that I'd want to live in a flat that close to the junction).

Yes - every time I've been past over the last few weeks there's been at least one vehicle parked there.

There are vehicles parked there at different times 24hrs a day. They also seem to think it ok to exit the car park and turn left to then join the High St, despite it being one way.
