General election!

We need a candidate who will be a good constituency MP, not afraid to stand up and represent local issues and be able to gauge issues with the local authority.Our existing MP should be ideal for that, but has gradually distanced herself from local issues and that's been a real shame.But any candidate needs a proven passion for this district and I can't think of any from any party.But next best is at least a candidate who lives locally full time, and understands what is going on with local issues as well as national ones.

Beats me how Electoral Calculus can predict that 0.2% of the vote will go to "Others" when we don't yet know whether there will be any other candidates outside of the parties named, let alone who they might be and what they might stand for.

20,000 odd go to Morrisons each week and they are largely local.Last election Morrisons was the hub of canvassing so that gives an idea of just how important a place it is locally.It's been noticed that during the petitioning and since the notice of planning application went up, our sitting MP has not been seen so frequently.It's not going to be a very good place to canvas this time round for anyone of any party.It seems that apart from a handful ward councillors. All others of local influence stayed silent or remained aloof.

Weelie bin saga + prosecution of the protester, approval of oversize developments including Watermans area and Morrisons including removal of the proper size supermarket with adequate parking, Church Street closure... What else should the elected people do for us to understand that it's got to change? It's us who elect them.

The really stupid thing is that the people in Brentford with their concerns over the Morrisons development proposals elicited no response from Ruth. This is something she really should have got involved in, she knows Brentford well having lived there for years and this is such a contentious issue. I wonder if she was warned off by the Dear Leader?

Oops - what a timing! The mass email about Church street closure went out on the day the snap election was announced. I wonder how confident our councillors will be knocking on our doors whilst campaigning for their party candidate?

I think our MP may well be ex-MP from her aloof stance on the Morrisons development scandal and other far from satisfactory overtures from LBH and it's current political methodology.The Ball is now in the Tories court. Will they break their silence on the onslaught of inappropriate developments in this constituency which do nothing for Labour or Conservative inclined local people?  Or will they continue the wooing of unsuitable developers, overseas marketing and invariably, the wrong types of housing?It may well be local issues that dominate here as that's what we need an MP for.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mother Teresa stood down after the election, still as PM and with an improved majority, and gave way to someone else to lead us into an uncertain future( which would have been just as uncertain or moreso if we'd have stayed in the EU imo).

Mary Macleod was a distinct improvement on her predecessor and I think Ruth has, support for the chosen few in Church Street excepted, continued that process of improvement.But like many voters I will look upon this election as the opening of an opportunity for change, and the question I must ask is has Ruth been a force for change, or an obstacle to it?

Ohh dear..June 9th another Tory Government and new leader of the Labour group. I still say David Milliband was labours best but his Brother stabbed him in the back. JK is delusional if he thinks he will win. I am more looking forward to the local elections.

I though Mary Macleod did pretty well as MP too.  It all depends on the people around the MP really.  What did Ruth Cadbury do/not do with Church Street?You may remember the tours MP Ann Keen and Mary Macleod did and how after the Councillors visited the Highways dept tried to mend the slabs on the tour before the MP could visit, trouble is there were 100's more for me to chose from as examples.  We just took a different route.  In advance of Mary's visit we had the entire Boroughs street cleaners on Northumberland Avenue, in groups of 3.  One to hold the bag, one to sweep and one to supervise.  MP Ann Keen was very personable, as was Mary, who just stopped herself from going over by grabbing a tree as she tripped....

I think Ruth has made a good job of being our M.P. but I'm afraid her daft decision to get involved the Church St. saga was really miscalculated. To pile the agony on by supporting our useless councillors in the face of such overwhelming opposition to this closure was in my view insulting and misguided to say the least, can't forgive that.

I think Corbyn honestly believes he has a chance of winning as he is so far out of touchActually feel a bit sorry for Ruth Cadbury as think she is a decent local MP despite having not voted for her but I think her brief career is now over
