Jim. I hadn't read your thread when I posted a note to Doris on 'Before the Great West Road was built', just a few minutes ago. The History section at Hounslow Library take and make copies of local photos of interest, if anyone has any of their own.We took along a small bundle from some friends who have lived in the area for some 70 years. James took copies of one as a babe in a pram with the taped up French windows in the background, and of the Zeppelin flying over the railway line at Syon Lane around 1931. These photos are being destroyed either by exposure to light, and age; or by people not realising their significance.James has a couple of some of the houses being built on the Northumberland estate, which show the tram lines the builder laid along the unsurfaced road to move his building materials. How about an appeal for interesting local photos stuffed in the backs of drawers or the loft, Sally?
