Brentford memories

Pie & mash shop in the High Street was Mrs Woods, Mrs Pinks was opposite the gas works,shop opposite the Bug Hutch was Macguires, Jefrates was in Albany Road. I was born & bred in Brentford, but when i walk through there i feel like a stranger, where's everyone gone?

I remember the NTGB badge it was a sign of authority. Staff seemed to be proud in those days unlike  now.

My mistake in the other thread JIMMrs. Pinks was indeed opposite Brentford Gas works - thanks.Granddad was a 'senior inspector' for North Thames Gas. Still remember his uniform with the NTGB badges on the lapels and the fact that he always smelt of coal tar.

The developments have taken the soul out of Brentford. People cannot afford to live there any longer and have moved away. I was recently watching a Stanley Baker film where he gets off of a trolley bus outside of Brentford gasworks and crosses the road to a shop where Mac Donalds now is. What memories.
