Good Care Agency

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good and not exorbitant care agency? Having come out of hospital today with 6 weeks care promised FOC the carer assessor came round to tell me that because my right leg is non weight bearing for 6 weeks I am not eligible for their process as there is no hope of rehab within that period. Once I can walk on both legs they can care for me!! They will kindly give me 4 days care but after that I have to find and fund my own!They have given me a 2 page list of agencies but no way of telling which are good and which are not.Thanks for any advice.

I spoke to maddy.a@homeinstead.co.uk last year when I wasn't sure if I would be able to look after myself following an operation. She was recommended by a friend who used her to help care for her dying husband. She came round to the house and I was favourably impressed by her, though I didn't need her people in the end.mobile 07435 961135Based in Acton.

Thanks Susan. Its a long story but we have been through all that twice!!My 17 day stay in West Mid was a catalogue of mistakes, miscommunications and wrong information from day 1 on the clinical side as well as this aftercare disaster. Only thing that was brilliant was almost all of the nursing.It now comes down to me having to find some private care to start on Friday or be stranded without food or sanitation!!

Shouldn't the hospital have given you an assessment before you left hospital?  Have you got one?  Who promised 6 weeks care?  Quite frightening for you. The PALS people at the hospital may be able to help with advice on what care you are eligible for.
