Busch Corner roadworks

Traffic lights at Busch Corner causing chaos yesterday - anyone who goes by that junction today should be prepared for a long wait.

Vanessa.  It looks like they set the lanes and lights up without the understanding that the church street closure means the jam past the hospital, extends to Busch corner and therefore blocks the junction.  When the traffic heading to Brentford and the A4 get a green light, they can't go forward because of this jam.  Needs local traffic management knowledge.Dear Adam Beamish, definitely need to avoid the junction while the roadworks are going on! (Reference to previous threads of discussion about this junction ... ;) )

Where statutory utility companies are concerned the council has very little say, they can pretty much do what they want as I understand it. If it's classed as an emergency then that's that!

....and our Council just lets them get away with it!The Twickenham Road / Busch Corner / London Road junction was a total joke over the weekend. No work going on but a temporary traffic light installed to control traffic which was quite unnecessary. Traffic chaos supreme caused for no reason other than incompetence.Well done Thames Water for causing havoc again.

The right-turning lane from Twickenham Road into London Road is closed in the evenings, forcing all northbound traffic into the left lane.  The problem is, the left lane shows green before the right filter, so right-turning traffic waiting for a green light has to remain put, preventing traffic crossing into Syon Lane from progressing.On two occasions, when at the front of the queue, I have had to perform a dangerous manoeuvre into no-man's-land to allow traffic behing me to cross.  These works do not appear to have taken any account of routine traffic movements which causes me to wonder whether Hounslow's traffic department has had any input whatsoever.

Oh yes, Reg, total chaos.No signage at St Johns road to suggest the mayhem ahead and allow people to divert along there nor Amhurst Gardens.No chance of emergency services using Church Street because of the nature of the road closure (not a barrier which can be lifted in an emergency).Couldn't believe the sign to warn of a 4 way traffic light system was not available to drivers until we got to the actual roadwork at a quiet time on a late Sunday afternoon.The queue for the right turn to Brentford and the ahead Lane to the A4 is combined and the traffic coming around the corner from Brentford heading towards Twickenham blocked the lane in a jam so when we got the green light to go towards the A4, we couldn't progress.The commuters who find other routes to by pass the roadworks will continue to use the new cut throughs making the small side roads even more dangerous.  I am hoping the road works continued all last night to get the road up and running but there didn't seem to be anyone working when we went past.  How will emergency vehicles negotiate their normal side roads routes to the hospital, which will be jammed?
