Mela on 2 September

I've just had a flyer through my letterbox regarding the proposed Mela on 2 September at Gunnersbury Park. This gives 48 hours' notice of the consultation meeting to be held on Thursday 27th at Old Actonians Sports Club from 5.30 to 6.30. Giving us such short notice and choosing a time when most people are still at work or travelling back home, presumably they're hoping no one will turn up ...

I absolutely agree, Linda. I have been to your festival before and will go again this year. That's what our precious parks should be for, for families and the local community, not to be turned into all-day drinking venues or to pander to the naked greed of corporate events.

As the Event organiser for the Brentford Festival I always watch the date and did understand it to be over two days.The BRENTFORD FESTIVAL, in Blondin Park is on 3rd noon to 6pm.We see our event as being quite different to the MELA (more family orientated) and are pleased to be able to welcome the RHS this year.  Come and support us, we are community lead.

Sorry, you're quite right, it is Sunday 3rd. There was even a rumour at one stage that it was going to be a two-day event.With so much to worry about, I got the wrong weekend day when it was confirmed as a one-day event.As to the licensing application, the hearing is on Monday 31st at 7.30 at the Civic Centre. We're hoping that as many people as possible turn up to show that we want to keep our Park as a space for all to enjoy freely, not have it turned into a corporate event venue.

I think it's Sunday 3rd not Saturday 2nd. They hold these 'consultations' every year then do exactly what they were going to do anyway.Same with the new licensing application.

I've been once to the Mela. Never again, the food I had was not good , some aggressive people and looked quite disorganised and shoddy quite frankly.
