A network forum would also be of great interest to new comers to the region. An evening gathering would be most convivial.  It can also take the form of a book club??? Is there one in Brentford? It does not necessarily have to be a women only forum.

If i can just be the devils advocate here Hilary,would you object if someone advertised a Men only Forum?I`m not sure how many members it would attract but if football and beer was to be discussed one afternoon a week then it may get some interest for a Saturday or Sunday lunchtime perhaps in a local pub or has someone already thought of that many years ago? :-)

Good questions!!Activities at the Community Centre are supported and/or organised by The Genesis Project (a small local Charity), the local Residents' Associations and LB Hounslow Adult Education Team. This particular Monday afternoon session is meant to provide an opportunity for local parents/carers to get together socially and to discuss topics of interest - if they wish. They can be adults for an afternoon while their children are in school or in the creche. If a topic proves to be a common issue then there would be the opportunity of asking Adult Education to organise a course to take the discussion further. Interest in basic DIY will result in a 5 week taster course after half term.Any woman in Brentford is welcome to come along.Since today's was only the third session, topics have so far been chosen in consultation with a very small group. We have, however, listened to the interest in discussing the parenting of teengers expressed at the first session and have asked for someone from Adult Education with this expertise to come along on the 6th June to answer parents' questions and be a resource if needed. We hope in the end that this will prove to be a popular session and that the parents/carers themselves will begin to ask for particular support and organise their own activities - social and educational.

May I ask who is behind this 'new' venture?  What is its aim?  Who is it aimed at?  How do you decide on topics to be covered?  Thanks.
