The biters have been bitten!

I understand that our favourite neighbours who live in Church St. are being plagued by anti-social behaviour and wacky-baccy dealing, so their pet councillor is organising a meeting with the police to discuss this. Of course take away traffic you also take away people and you make a place very convenient for the local scrotes to do their thing.I now believe there is a God, pigeons coming home and all that!

God only knows but, as someone who has fired pyrotechnics professionally in the past, they were "SIGNIFICANT" with approximately five minutes between them.Clearly heard in Snowy Fielder Way, Park Road, Syon Park.

Brian, I do hope the viewpoint of those in the immediate vicinity who opposed the closure but are suffering its consequences is represented at any meeting with the police and other relevant authorities.

Do feel very sorry for you - seems that the Church Street saga always rebounds on people who don't live in Church St. The ability to look at the wider implications was not present when the decision was mooted and then implemented, talk about unintended consequences, was it really worth all this I wonder?

Unfortunately the creation of this private "peaceful haven of traffic free tranquillity" for the minority has also brought the problems outlined above to those who live locally but opposed the scheme right from the outset and throughout the alleged "trial period".We currently have gangs of marauding cycle mounted thugs, who think nothing of throwing missiles at pedestrians and motorists, acrobats on motorcycles and mopeds as well as many highly tuned cars with massive sound systems, frequenting the riverside at all hours of the day and night.    The drugs, dogging and prostitution are relatively quiet activities by comparison!Whilst a tiny part of me is glad that the selfish group around the corner are getting some disturbance as a result of their actions, another part of me finds it impossible to accept this, if only for the reason that trying to sleep through several loud explosions at 1.10am on a Sunday morning is, at best impossible.I personally welcome the meeting that has reportedly been organised with the Police and hope things can be resolved soon.

I have these problems for myself - whilst parked down by the Apprentice late at night I saw a guy with a car signalling with what looked like tacky disco lights to someone with a light down on the river shore by Syon Park. As soon as we left the guys looked like they were about to meet up. To me this made them draw attention to themselves, but my girlfriend and I said that it looked like a drug deal out of a TV thriller.

Agreed, but there is a certain irony about this - and given the very selfish attitude of some of the people who campaigned to close Church St. it is hard to feel their pain. I noticed yesterday that there was an almost constant stream of traffic turning right into Worple Ave. from Dawes Ave. yesterday morning and wondered what was going on.Then of course once I got onto Twickenham Rd. I realised - if drivers turn left into Dawes then right into Worple they can drive up to the allotment junction with Twickenham Rd. thereby missing out two lots of lights and a big chunk of Twickenham Rd. where they'd be sitting in heavy traffic. Most of this can be traced back to the daft decision to close Church St.

The police should always take an interest when anti-social behaviour is taking place, whatever the area.  Everyone is entitled to leave in safety and without fear.But if they take more of an interest in this particular neighourbood than they have in others, such as Ivybridge and the West Middlesex, where this kind of activity has long been commonplace, then I for one will be asking why.
