Windmill Road junction crossing the A4

Is it the local council or TFL who are responsible for the changes to this crossover?...as I would like to offer some constructive criticism.Honestly, did anyone look at this very busy junction before getting their little pencil and set square out.

I too was pro the new Watermans project until I learnt that there would be very very limited parking.  I was talking to someone last night who regularly goes to Watermans cinema and they were shocked about lack of parking!!!  its a change of bus at least once for them to use new site, so they wouldn't bother!

It also means that diverted buses, university buses, coaches and other longer vehicles coming turning right onto the Westbound A4 will a, have to turn wider and thus come perilously close the the cycleway and pedestrian areas and b. Clip the kerb causing risk to anyone, cyclists in particular running directly across from Windmill Road North to South.Cannot see how extra congestion and making the junction even more perilous than it already is, actually helps anyone.I know it's not finished but it is already far more dangerous for cyclists as I discovered on my bike this morning,The tiny island forces cyclists into being too close and unseen by large vehicles especially 4wds and vans.All that is really needed is to make it better and safer for pedestrians but it is already showing signs that cyclists and large vehicles will run the risk of over swinging into pedestrian areas.Surely, they could do better than this?Or is this just another piece of foisting some scheme just to reinforce a half baked ideology?

Oh and lets not forget the extra traffic coming out of the new Reynard Mills development....most of it will try to turn right to add to southbound queues....and no doubt occasionally will also block northbound traffic.

By having the traffic island and "building out kerbs" as they call it,it means continuing southbound traffic on Windmill Road can NOT now pass the right turning traffic onto the A4.Southbound traffic at peak times could be queued back substantially ....so now its going to be even worse.Ridiculous.PS so the rat running commence in, Carlyle Rd Whitestile Rd, Avenue Rd,Darwin Rd, Eastbourne Rd, etc

I received a copy of the plans, I recall in the post as part of the consultation, as I live close by.It was clear that they were designed to improve walking and people crossing on foot, but limit driving both across the junction and turning. We need both cars and pedestrians. It was obvious that the plans would make driving at this junction much more difficult, and leading to both increased congestion and slower journeys.That was the plan, and this is what we are getting.BTW, I didn't object to the consultation, as I learn't many years ago that in this Borough it only frustrates me more, and achieves absolutely nothing.BTW (and on a similar point), I actually did put in a response to the Waterman's consultation. I think its a great use for the lingering eyesore that was once a police station, but it is utterly flawed without car parking. I fear I will be frustrated and disappointed. Will I ever learn?Hey ho.
