Boston Manor gates temporary relocation or stolen?

Arrived at the park yesterday morning to find the shipping container containing the gates and the bricks from the pillar had been removed from the entrance to the park where it had been for 5 months. Does this mean work is about to start on the rebuild or should we be thinking the worst.

It is, until they turn up at some reclamation yard 100’s of miles away for a considerable amount of money.As I said in an earlier post, they should be viewed & secured by the friends ASAP.

A group of herberts stole the gates of Elthorne Park a few years ago and it took a couple of months to replace them.Perhaps LBH should get the bloke who organised that on the case here.LOL.

So the LBH  contractor’s - sub contractor knows where they are.I would very very strongly advise the friends group to ask to view the gates & where they are being stored at present, security wise.In my experience over a number of years, anything removed by LBH or one of their contractors for storage has a terrible habit of going missing or getting ‘lost’ very quickly, Please do this ASAP.

We know where they are - with Carillion's contractor.The LBH parks team are getting weekly reports from Carillion with progress of the tender to rebuild the piers and rehang the gates. The whole thing has been delayed by disputes about liability between various insurers but that is no excuse for the delay in rebuilding, which is likely to extend into March.

Nicholas I think that is the question to ask.  I have lots of theories but feel I am not the one to write these down in print!  A few of us are meeting with the Chief Executive on 20th about Hounslow park issues so will probably flag this up then.

The problem is the insurance claim I understand is between Carillion and the lorry insurance. The £50000 does not come into it.

I cannot understand why if the Junction2 organisers put up a £50,000 sum to cover any eventualities it couldn't be used to repair the gates.  I've been told there are people camping in the park at the moment with no gates who knows who else might decide to take up occupancy.

The reality, seemingly,that in this borough, despite the laughable 'consultations'and all the blah blib blab from councillors,that no-one is accountable or seems to have any real sway over contractors chosen to do the council's bidding. evidence this Boston Manor Park gate nonsense and the Sarah Trimmer Hall uber nonsense, and we all know about Church St. Can anyone else see a pattern here...?

Just been notified that the event in June has been granted a licence.  Is there any point in objecting again, I think not. Just wonder who is going to monitor all the items listed as part of the licence.

Feel sorry for the local residents - Junction 2 2018 for two nights has just been given its licence!  The gates issue is apparently (as told to me last week by the organisers) with the lorry driver and Carillion's insurance.WE (Friends/Cafe) close for Xmas on 17th and do not reopen until February so hope it is sorted by then!

There is another thread called GATES STILL CLOSED or similar. This was dated 16 June. I put a reminder on there every 16th. Just to remind us. Mind you anything could happen now with the parks. It was all going to be wonderful with the gates. Nothing to worry about? I feel sorry for Linda.

Thanks for clarifying that Vanessa - I keep making that mistake in their title - I MUST remember "Local Government Officers", however, whatever their title, why should they know more than an expert company specialising in management and maintaining Parks & Gardens who would automatically provide all the proper equipment and personnel.    Hounslow Council's Lampton 360 would have to buy all this in - an expensive outlay before they even start!  Madness.

When Lampton 360 take over the maintenance & management of  our parks and open spaces, if and when they ever make a profit (so far nothing run by the Council owned Lampton 360 has) the monies will go back into the Council's coffers not back into the Parks concerned!  Profits made by the Friends Groups have all been ploughed back into the Parks they have maintained at no expense to LBH.  Quite why a local Councillor and civil servants at LBH should be expert in this field is beyond me - they will also have to buy more equipment surely, such as mowers and gardening tools before they can even start work.  A bit like the chaotic Lampton 360 refuse and recycling set up.  Agree Carillion are not much cop and deserve to be dumped but surely they are not the only people in this line of work - who do the neighbouring boroughs employ?  Of course, it presupposes that the Cllr or civil servant actually making the contract needs to be knowledgeable and capable of following up to ensure the job contracted is done properly.    Carillion can't have been overseen as they must have been in default of their contract and should have been fired months ago imo.

Let's hope that when the new regime of Lampton 360 takes over next April this sort of thing will just be a horrible memory and proper communication will be the order of the day. Totally unacceptable to treat people who care and work so hard like this. These people act with a deal of contempt for Friends and elected members too it seems.

Doesn't have directly to do with the Civic Centre as it is Carillion who are repairing the gates.Not acceptable that Linda/Friends are not kept informed (ward councillors should be, also, but we're not)I'll see what I can find out.

How strange that they removed it all on a Friday.  Of course the whole Civic Centre is closed at the weekends - coincidence or what? Why make a big thing about the fund set aside for possible damage to the park when it has taken 5 months and still the gates haven't been repaired.
