It seems that a lot of people took no notice of the information issued with the change in the collection or there wouldn't be such a problem and so many queries:https://www.hounslow.gov.uk/info/20128/household_recycling_and_waste_collections/1691/plastic_recycling_collectionsYes, a lot more could be done to ensure that taxpayers money isn't just being used to clean up after flytippers.LBH doesn't seem to have much of an alternative to kerbside collections which with some of them at fortnightly intervals isn't good when residents may not be around to put their waste out at the right time.  If you are lucky you may have good and able neighbours who will and can put your boxes or wheelie bin out and/or can bring them in again but many may not. Also unfortunately I don't believe that supermarkets who run their own recycling banks are listed with what can be recycled at their stores - or it is harder to find!

"This has happened many times & is bloody annoying"My is experience is much better. I reported fly-tipping at 12.09 today and just 5 minutes ago at 12.26 I received confirmation that the site has been inspected and works programmed. It can't get much quicker than that.

“Bags that are dumped by litter bins and bus stops and on verges are being opened and information obtained.”It would be good to hear about more prosecutions!  I have reported a regular fly-tipping hotspot three times now and I agree that HH are quick to respond and clear the mess but as soon as its cleared the perpetrators dump more!!   I usually wait three or four days before I report to see if anyone else will report it but it never happens.  It seems most good citizens are quite happy to walk or drive past and pretend it isn’t there!  It would be encouraging if HH would report back to those who report the fly-tipping and provide an update on whether or not they have been able to locate and prosecute the fly-tippers because currently it seems that taxpayers money is just being spent cleaning up after the scumbags rather than getting to the source of the problem.

Yes, you can knock the system, because you get an email back after reporting that says: Enquiry Resolved - Case Closed. When it hasn’t been.So you have to start all over again.This has happened many times & is bloody annoying 😡

If you report direct to Hounslow Highways on www.hounslowhighways.org and go onto my works you can report on there. You will get an enquiry number and with in 1-2 days an e-mail telling whats happening.  Can't knock the system. Also I was at a meeting with H/H last week and there are loads of fly-tipping fines on the go.Bags that are dumped by litter bins and bus stops and on verges are being opened and information obtained.

I'm a regular user of FixMyStreet. It takes just a couple of minutes to make a report and usually problems are cleared within a day or two.But I've just discovered a classic case of bad customer service having reported via FixMyStreet a broken bollard and graffiti at the corner of Whitestile Road and Enfield Road. Nothing happened for a couple of weeks so I reported again via the Hounslow web site. Quickly had a response from Hounslow Highways and the problems were swiftly attended to. It turns out that there is no feed from FMS to Hounslow Highways. As far as I'm concerned I don't want to know about the internal organisation of the service providers, they should communicate with each other transparently. We need a "FixMyCouncil" app.I have no confidence that the council has thought about changing peoples behaviour. I believe there should be a sustained campaign to catch and prosecute miscreants, but there also needs to be visible reporting on this at the littering and flytipping blackspots. e.g. how about regularly updated posters detailing all those who have been prosecuted recently?And a few more litter bins wouldn't go amiss too.

Not enough people are reporting though.  For months there was the number plate for a lamppost sitting at the bottom of the lamppost.  I walked past it occasionally - but everybody on their daily commute to the tube station was walking past it EVERY DAY.  I went away and when I came back it was still there...  You'd have thought that one of the many who saw it regularly would report it - especially one of those who stood on the station or sat on the tube looking at their phones but it seems that they didn't.  Our environment won't improve unless we do something for ourselves.Have you ever posted pictures of a fly-tip on here?  They used to post them on www.actonw3.com under a heading of Filthy Acton.It would be good to see some more reports of the investigation of where the fly-tips are coming from - and prosecutions.

Somewhat pathetic that only 20 mimutes allowed for questions! Nothing really positive - just a presentaion on alleged increases in recycling and suggestion that fly-tipping hasn't really increased - just the reporting of it..  i.e. we are doing a wonderful job folks so why don't you all shut up.

Great to see the write-ups on the front page for two of the groups that met on the 5th.  What a shame that there wasn't enough time for residents to ask more questions about recycling,refuse and fly-tipping and litter!  Perhaps people need another chance to have some of the questions answered.  A bit more positive engagement with local residents would make a lot of difference.  Good to see the presentations and more info will be available on the OWGRA website.http://www.brentfordtw8.com/default.asp?section=info&page=owgra003.htm

Not too much of a clash - Brentford Recycling Action Group has been meeting on the first Tuesday of the month for many years, and is scheduled to finish in time for Green Drinks at the Magpie (indeed that is mainly why that day was chosen for GD). Because Hounslow & Brentford Friends of the Earth members tend to go to Green Drinks the (very brief) AGM is always scheduled to happen that night. So not many socks being laughed off.
