Look out, look out

For people in South Isleworth - there has been a spate of bike thefts  over the last week. The latest in the early hours of yesterday, seems that locked gates are no deterrent to this individual - who has been caught on camera.

My wife Caroline had hers stolen from outside the Isleworth Explorers' Club today.  It was locked up and placed right under the CCTV cameras - he just cut through the lock and cycled off on it.  He's on camera but he was wearing a hood so I'm not sure how useful it will prove.  I imagine the MO is that the vehicle will have been parked in a nearby side street and loaded up once he's some distance from the scene of the crime.  Whoever is doing it is either desperate for drug money or has reason to believe he/they can just carry on working in the same area with impunity.  It has been reported to the police - I'll keep everyone posted on how we get on with that one.

We've given our CCTV to the people who had their bikes stolen - unfortunately they had trouble contacting the police so hopefully we've helped by giving the e-mail contact for the Safer Neighbourhood team. It's also worth trying 101 as a CCTV camera courtesy of Richmond is now in situ just over the footbridge in Northcote Rd. so could pick something up if the thieves go that route. Naturally Hounslow removed our CCTV cameras before Christmas!

I saw 2 people male and young female pick up 3bikes from around worple avenue today. I thought it was a bit strange completely forgot about it until I read this. They were in a fed ex van I think. Pretty sure I noted van reg.

Are they registered on the bike database?  When people don't register them and don't report them missing they fuel the trade in stolen bikes.https://www.bikeregister.com/advice/faq

We have had two bicycles dumped outside our block for about the last fortnight - a red one and a black one.  One of them has a carrier bag covering the seat and I think it's the other one which is sporting a large plastic poppy.Clearly they have been stolen and the thief (or thieves) probably decided they weren't worth keeping as they seem to be old and probably not of high value.
