CPZ Brent Lea

Within hours of the CPZ scheme starting in Brent Lea resident's car park, 14 Penalty Charge Notices had been issued this morning. Not everyone has the visitor tickets or carer's passes.Steve Curran was adamant that it is not a money making scheme.The scheme is 7 days a week and to have a visitor for the day will cost £6.00 so £12 for a weekend guest. If you DO NOT have a car but you have a carer(£67 pa) and have regular visitors, it could cost over £400 pa!!!! The scheme is from 9.30am -6.00pm. The council say that they are helping by responding to to the requests of the residents. None of the residents were told that they would be stung with a £6.00 daily parking fee just to have a visitor!!The elderly couples I have spoken to , without a car, didn't even know they should have filled out the initial form because it was about parking. This is shocking practice. I hope everyone challenges their PCN's.

"You might expect this from a right wing party..."Labour in Hounslow is a right wing party.  Whatever differences there may or may not be between them and the Tories in these parts, they have nowt to do with ideology.  Guy was one of the first ones in against his party leader don't forget, and Steve Curran is on record as having supported Liz Kendall during the party leadership election.  And would even the Tories have worked hand in glove with UKIP at the last local elections?

I think , although everyone on my street rubs along just fine and always accommodates a few extra cars if you have a visitor or two, that this nonsense is being imposed on us to. If it's not a money making scheme then why not make it free? Talk about helping top isolate people who have the occasional visitor that might not just have 36 or £12 to spare. All this whilst making Church St. a traffic free haven for the rich.You might expect this from a right wing party..these type of shenanigans are why labour will never get my vote again locally.
