Magistrates Court Bargain.....

The Ministry of Justice sold Brentford Magistrates court for just £650k. The developer subsequently sold 9 flats priced upto £1 million each, as well as leasing/renting the Verdict cafe. OK they had the conversion/build cost and the risk but looks to me like a massive undervaluation......... More to the point is the effect that the closure of so many Magistrates courts has on local justice. There is now no Magistrates Court in either the boroughs of Hounslow or Richmond, justice delayed is justice denied. Now people are expected to schlepp to Uxbridge, Willesden etc. - bearing in mind many may be on benefit and the cost of travel to these courts it is truly appalling. Yet another casualty of this bloody government's austerity policies.
