Garages - Albany Road

Garage rents have gone up over 100% in just a handful of years. I've seen local spaces advertised online for short term parking.Can't blame tenants for subsidising their outgoings after all that's what councils do.

I have no problem asking for bollards if the garage owners think it's a good thing. I only observe that we have them in parts of the car park under where I live but very few of them are ever used - people think they are too much fuss. Yes, I've seen cars outside and always assumed it was legit (other than the chip eaters) because this is the first time I've heard of a problem.

Guy, at 7:30 in the morning, the kebab shop, betting shop & pub nearby are all closed. It appeared the car had been left overnight.This is not the first time this has happened, and often there are more forecourts occupied than vacant - although I'm sure a few garage tenants leave their vehicles outside the garage, maybe to avoid getting blocked in!

These bollards have been in situ outside a local church so that they can be down for weddings, funerals etc. but the rest of the time they prevent parking on the pedestrianised square outside the church. They WORK!

Sorry about that, Ian - I've found it answers promptly on the few occasions I've needed it. I've asked somebody to investigate.As to bollards or whatever, not convinced that would be a good idea unless this happens frequently - I've never heard of it before, though people often park there for a few minutes to pick up kebabs etc.Interested what Ian thinks

Take it these are council garages? If so each garage entrance should have a 'drop down' bollard outside on the back edge of the pavement the that the garage tenants could lock upright when they are not using the garage. There's a job for Guy? Mind you what sort of ignorant moron does something like that?

Could be,they are parked there to avoid the CPZ charge.

You would have thought that someone parking for a short while knowing the garage may need to be used might leave a message saying where they were - eg just popping in to No 8.

I'd be very tempted to wrap the entire window section of the car round and round with thick sticky parcel tape!  It wouldn't damage the offending car but be a b---er to unwrap.I suppose oil poured over all the windows wouldn't be easy to remove either.  Hopefully the driver would get the message.

Ian you could try calling the council's out of hours emergency number 8583 2222. I'm not sure they can do anything but worth a try to call out enforcement officers and/or maybe towaway trucks
